Guinea pig part 2

Reading with interest!

Unfortunately due to family commitments we will be 18 days behind you - but if there is a hint that France will change their entry criteria to our detriment we have a plan B (boat to Santander) and a plan C (legging it to the tunnel a bit earlier).

Enjoy and please keep us posted!

Maybe you could compromise on the smuggling front by using a cleaned out milk carton as a water bottle - just to see if they check? :ROFLMAO: Some people freeze them to keep the fridge cold whilst travelling.
I agree with your comment about deciding where to go in France. So much choice. We usually look at the weather forecast first night.
I hope you have a great trip and thank you in advance for this thread.

We were just thinking of stowing in a cool bag somewhere whilst going through then transferring back to fridge/freezer, doubt they are going to search the van for hidden bacon or sausages just look in fridge freezer, but as MITHRANDIR says maybe not worth hassle at the moment.

I didn't see your post as I hadn't refreshed my screen before my last comments as I'd wandered off to the 'Inflatable Kayak' thread which is full of not-so hot air!

Hopefully we can all enjoy seeing what Mithy gets up to although I am disappointed that he's not trying to at least smuggle a sausage in so we can see if it can be done successfully! :ROFLMAO:
Hi @minxy. We're now sat in cabarceno in lovely sunshine, going to go and check the elephants out shortly.
The only thing they were interested in at Plymouth was to ask if we had turned the gas off, and in Santander whether we had any pets and then we were waved through. Really glad we got to keep my mature cheddar but forgot to bring sausages.

MITHRANDIR I hope you have a great trip.

I have to admit to being a wee bit jealous as we will be staying close to home for the foreseeable (family reasons) but the time will come again I am sure.

Neither Martin nor I got any sort of documentation to say we had been vaccinated, we are in Scotland but it appears that one can apply for a letter showing vaccination status here:

However you need the letter inviting you to be vaccinated in order to apply and we were both invited by phone both times! However going through the "forgotten username" route I was able to register and print out my status. If I need a letter I can apply for one by logging into the system - they ask that you only do this 21 days before you travel (so I just printed out the record of my status).

No longer relevant as of the 9th June for those that have been fully vaccinated. I suggest you check up on the latest rules or read the other threads before commenting on a thread where the OP has carried out full due-diligence prior to their trip(y)
Some doubting Thomas's everywhere.BUSBY😀

Have a great trip, you’ll be fine in the PVC, plenty of room, and hopefully you’ll be outside most of the time anyway. Keep us updated its interesting!!

I phoned the surgery for our vaccinations dates , then googled
Covid Passport Scotland which took me to the NHS inform website
Went down to “ recover username "
Filled in the dates plus our personal details and got my username
Logged in and applied
covid vaccination letter arrived in 3 days

I did mine and the covid letter arrived in 3 days

The surgery don't have vaccination dates and it is asked that you don't phone them as they are too busy with their normal workload.

I do have my dates and went via the "forgotten username" route (as I said before). The website is quite clear (and specific) that you should NOT ask for a letter more than 3 weeks before you are to travel. I printed out the confirmation page of when and what for my own records but I don't need the official letter so didn't ask for it. They have enough to do at the moment.

Maybe they do things differently where you are , but my surgery in D&G where we were vaccinated both times were more than obliging when I explained the reason that I needed the dates because we didn’t have any vaccination appointment letters
We are hoping to travel within the next 3/4 weeks to France

Ah, no vaccinations at GP surgery here - we had to travel to a vaccination centre - both for the flu jag last autumn and for the covid this year.

Very envious! Hope to be there in September! in the meantime we have to make do with Bude, Edinburgh, Northumberland and Damage Barton with Stoneleigh and Malvern shows in between! Are you doing Portugal or Spain or both?

Have a great trip! MITHRANDIR

Thanks for being a guinea pig MITHRANDIR.
I'll be following your thread with interest as I’m determined that we get to France this year.
September 1st is my target and will be heading in the same sort of direction as you.
Have a great time and enjoy. (y)

Richard.

We will be a few hours ahead of you, just received this warning from Eurotunnel:
It is ESSENTIAL that you meet all Government requirements before arriving at our terminal.
You may be fined if not. www.eurotunnel.com/covid

Tremble tremble!
Who says the Government is controlling by fear?

Hope you have a great time - we have not been to that bit of Spain yet!

What we really need is suavecarve to leak figures to the telegraph showing France, Spain and Portugal as pretty good and Boris will read it, believe its the sir Humphrey squad again and turn them all green. 😁
