Please don’t take your bat home. I can understand you wanting to help but I also understand the frustration of others, including MITHRANDIR who have done their homework.I’m not “starting” anything. I didn’t realise and am happy to be informed that this requirement isn’t the case. What I’m less happy about is some of the responses which are a little patronising and assume some kind of hierarchy of knowledge of previous threads and their entire contents. I will apologise for my knowledge on this but not for failing to ask permission before raising a legitimate concern, nor for posting anything on any thread which I believe are adequately policed by Jim and only him.
I look forward to reading the rest in silence
Suavecarve, it's started already
No longer relevant as of the 9th June for those that have been fully vaccinated. I suggest you check up on the latest rules or read the other threads before commenting on a thread where the OP has carried out full due-diligence prior to their trip
Please don't start before he has even left home
A simple response to Marty Gilly and Pup to say the rules had changed yesterday was all that was required, not sarcasm, they were only trying to help in case this wasn't clear. There’s always one,
the rules changed yesterday, no self isolation required in france now.
In the op he quite clearly said this wasn't a thread for advice or whether to go or not , just to say how he was getting on.A simple response to Marty Gilly and Pup to say the rules had changed yesterday was all that was required, not sarcasm, they were only trying to help in case this wasn't clear.
Well that will calm everyone down, well done Minxy Girl .A simple response to Marty Gilly and Pup to say the rules had changed yesterday was all that was required, not sarcasm, they were only trying to help in case this wasn't clear.
He may have said that but there was one area which he wasn't totally sure about:In the op he quite clearly said this wasn't a thread for advice or whether to go or not , just to say how he was getting on.
So the highlighting of this by Marty Gilly and Pup was actually suggesting this is looked at again to ensure he knows for certain rather than 'hopes' so IMV was quite legitimate, in any case did it really need numerous people to make comments about it?We are aware of the entry requirements into France (we think)
Hopefully it might make some people think about being sarcastic when someone is only trying to help, it would certainly make me wary of trying to assist someone if I thought I'd get similar comments and I'm a roughty toughty northern lass.Well that will calm everyone down, well done Minxy Girl .
Best to just let it go IMHO.Hopefully it might make some people think about being sarcastic when someone is only trying to help, it would certainly make me wary of trying to assist someone if I thought I'd get similar comments and I'm a roughty toughty northern lass.
I didn't see your post as I hadn't refreshed my screen before my last comments as I'd wandered off to the 'Inflatable Kayak' thread which is full of not-so hot air!Now thats cleared up and hopefully everyone understands the whys and wherefores we can understand each persons response and allow the thread to be a "Lets do what we do and enjoy it" thread and Martin and his pup can enjoy it and participate as well (and Gilly of course)
As my old mum would say ... "Ditto" (she used to think it was a swear word!Best to just let it go IMHO.
"Issue MITHRANDIR with powder and shot, Mr. Christian"I am interested to find out what sort of reception you get from the French people.
Hopefully it will be friendly.
What a lovely phrase, with a slightly different meaning for MITHRANDIR
"I m just going off to France, I may be a while"
Please allow others to have their own view, Marty Gilly and Pu,p, should not read in silence, as you put it if you wish to contribute please do so.We are aware of the entry requirements into France (we think)
The quiet parts , we are heading to the pyrenees for a start, but then we really have not made any plans as such, gorges du verdon, maybe, i like it down around Perpignan, that's the trouble with france so many variations, if it can be called "trouble" i also like the area around clermont ferrand, who knows?Hope all goes well for you , ENJOY !! have a great trip
I'm very jealous , can't wait for next year , I will read with envy. Where or which part of France are you headed ?
Terry
I don't know, i was asked re this question by a member from N Ireland, as they don't have the nhs app, i will offer up the cards we were issued when we had the jabs, to find out, i can back that up with the app or a print off we have from the app, so that should answer your question. This may have been covered before but do you prove you have had the double vaccine by using the NHS app?
We did think about smuggling some bacon and sausage , but decided against it, as we like the food in france, and that there are so many unknowns at the moment, i didn't want to "poke a hornets nest" for no reason.Hopefully we can all enjoy seeing what Mithy gets up to although I am disappointed that he's not trying to at least smuggle a sausage in so we can see if it can be done successfully!
Wuss!We did think about smuggling some bacon and sausage , but decided against it, as we like the food in france, and that there are so many unknowns at the moment, i didn't want to "poke a hornets nest" for no reason.
But i will post as to whether they check or not and how thoroughly, for all the smugglers
I know, i usually wouldn't bother about such rules in normal times, but i don't want to eat a huge slice of humble pie coming back on here and reporting they won't let me in because they don't like my sausageWuss!
Been there .... Lots of people giving reasons NOT to go ...albeit most of them with good intentionsSuavecarve, it's started already
I think you'd probably have been O.K. as there isn't any meat in Humble Pie.I know, i usually wouldn't bother about such rules in normal times, but i don't want to eat a huge slice of humble pie coming back on here and reporting they won't let me in......
Now you are just showing off
I'm not jealous, not one bit.
