Germany/Austria August/September information sharing.

Just back from a walk along the river and it's getting a little brighter and down to the odd very short shower. It's also warming up a tad and I think the worst of the weather is behind us and this appears to confirmed by the latest weather forecast. From the little of what we have see of the city we think we are going to enjoy it and will visit tomorrow via the tramway which is a short walk from the campsite, which is very well maintained and spotless in the washroom, toilets etc and seems to be constantly cleaned. Our Sunday lunch has turned up too but Mena not quick enough to get it for the table.

Thats what I read on LinerTreff, they are either staying in DE or Italy. French visits are limited to state of outbreak with clear indications that the escape from any bad region tut suite.

Has anyone recently gone from France into Germany. What was your experience at the border?

What border? Completely free movement. We crossed into Germany at junction 2 for Aachen last Monday and headed east. Still heading east towards Dresden. We've been amazed how busy it is with German Moho's every stop has been busy.
Went to the old Wartburg factory museum yesterday and the stelplatz was full. Now moved on to POW camp my uncle was at for the whole of WW2.

Out of Curiosity ...can anyone help? we have noticed these numbers on doorways here in Germany and wondered what they mean. I’m sure there is a simple explanation as they seem to relate to years but not sure why they are chalked on some houses and not others 🤔

I wonder that too.

Thank you for this answer. We were thinking the same thing in Monschau and Gangelt yesterday.

Most folk think it’s the visit from the 3 wise men C B M - beginning and end is the year.
But officially it’s a blessing Christus Mansionem Benedicat (Christ bless this house).
maybe depends on religion?

We arrived at the recommended weingut in Dierbach yesterday.
We walked amongst the vines.

Then we went to the restaurant and sampled the wine complemented by a meal containing stuffed pig stomach

We made our selection of wines to take home and wobbled off back to our van.

Bright and early the wine we had ordered arrived in the little van. We bought a mixture of red and white with the average price around €3 per bottle,

many of the wines came in one litre bottles, that’s well cheap. What a great facility this is, the suns out, we might just loiter a while.

Sitting in the van, atm at Wohnmobilhafen am Kränchen, Lahneck. Miserable and raining outside. Plenty of room on the Stellplatz.
Had intended to bike into Koblenz today and take the cable car up to Ehrenbreitstein Castle, but there doesn't seem to be much point as there wouldn't be a view through the mist. Next year, maybe 🙂.
Went for a browse around Globus this morning and ended up buying ourselves a coat each - so not a cheap day, after all 😀.
