When the German students do bikes, they do it well.

See you around midday, Ill be standing under the cathedral clock with a red rose sticking out of my arse ! Today is going to be very sunny and warm and you have chosen the best day of the week to visit Freiburg.
I reckon they lost my paperwork too Jon, as they invited me to apply online for a replacement V5, so I sent them an email with photos of all the paperwork, along with tracking proof that they had signed for it, and within minutes, I was advised that a new and updated V5 would be issued immediately. So envious, we were supposed to be in Germany at the moment instead of waiting for DVLA to get their act together. They really are hopeless, its got so bad we re now being treated as priority but still convinced that they ve lost our paperwork
They really are shockingly bad Jock. I ve learnt that if you send stuff recorded delivery the local sorting office sign for it and deliver it when they feel like it, not exactly the service I paid RM forI reckon they lost my paperwork too Jon, as they invited me to apply online for a replacement V5, so I sent them an email with photos of all the paperwork, along with tracking proof that they had signed for it, and within minutes, I was advised that a new and updated V5 would be issued immediately.
I think their handling of documents during the pandemic has been atrocious for a Government Department.
Cheers,
Jock.

I sent it all off mid March, and despite repeated failed efforts to speak with someone, eventually they responded via email. I didn't get my new V5 until July. How long did your take?
Yes, we had a great time thanks Jon..........and I'm itching to get away again already.Seen the posts and really glad you re having a nice time in the Flair
Most of us seem to have been, or are in south west Germany. If any of you are interested in all things mechanical the Tecknik Museum at Sinsheim is well worth a day out. Have a look at the website https://sinsheim.technik-museum.de/en/ - it's about 20/25 miles south-east of Heidelberg. There's another one at Speyer a bit further west but I haven't been to that one so can't say how it compares with Sinsheim. Quick link to the main highlights https://sinsheim.technik-museum.de/en/highlights
It's a huge place and really interesting. Here's just a flavour
(who said the Germans don't have a sense of humour)
Visited the Speyer museum last month, huge place even has a Russian Space Shuttle on displayYou can get a joint ticket IIRC and Both are well worth a visit . The food in the cafe is good , and reasonable price . There is a stellplatze with full facilities near the Schwimbad at Sinsheim . The Speyer site has a Stellplatze near the Museum Hotel.
Buy the Stellplatz books but they are in German. The less good book in English from the Dutch outfit "Camperstops/ (?) The Stellplatz books have one solely for Germany and one for the rest of Europe which gives you the understanding that Germany has lots and lots aroundWhere to get info on Austrian/German aires?
There is a 'Stellplatz' app available, covers most of Europe, shows what facilities are available and ratings. If reviews are in German, just hold your finger on the text and it automatically routes you to Google Translate.Buy the Stellplatz books but they are in German. They re both great albeit slightly different in terms of exhibits, Speyer has locomotives, whereas Sinsheim is more racing vehicles. Sinsheim has the Concorde and Concordski and Speyer has the unbelievable Anatov, which one? Both if SWMBO will let you get away with it IMOVisited the Speyer museum last month, huge place even has a Russian Space Shuttle on display
We also stayed on the Stellplatze however, get in there early as it got rammed later in the day BTW its next to the municipal airport runway, great if you're a plane buff.

it was turning a tad chilly as the sun set mind.
Why not, the Eifel National Park is a great area, lots of walking opportunities, check it out. This holiday though we have avoided larger towns as much as we can for obvious reasons, we prefer rural locations anyway if truth be told.Looks nice.
why did you choose there instead of Aachen ?
Thanks it does look lovely. Aachen is in the environmental zone so it would be difficult for us unless I get a pdf of our v5 (any day now hopefully)Why not, the Eifel National Park is a great area, lots of walking opportunities, check it out. Get round it by overnight at the P&R by the Crematorium and Bismarck Tower, and get the bus in. €5 return, for up to 5 x passengers. You are a very short drive off the Autobahn, and close to a 24hr filling station (other side of the Autobahn). Thanks it does look lovely. AHH ..I'm in Luxembourg planning to enter Germany tomorrow ....this could be interestingBe advised, the UK has just been placed on Germany's naughty steps and Visitors entering Germany form the UK will be subject to compliance with their entry rules. The campsite owner here told me if she went to UK and then returned to Germany she would have to provide/take a Negative Covid test at the boarder or isolate for 14 days. So, anyone coming over needs to find out exactly what the entry requirements are before arriving.
