Gareth & Phil have fun in Spain 2025.

I love a nice brandy courvasier etc but for the money this is close. Just been to supermarket to get me tea but apparently another Spanish holiday and its closed.

I used to be partial to a corvousier vsop brandy , but stopped drinking any spirits years ago . When I sold the house and moved in to the van I gave away several bottles of whisky, brandy and a few other spirits people had been buying me for Christmas and birthday gifts that I hadn't drunk. Nowadays red wine , beer or cider is my limits. And I can't handle those either lol

Many years ago( 1960's) with parents we did the obligatory round of distilleries on holidays, pre breathalyser days and I remember two distinct places, first was in Congnac the town, after a tour of Hennessy and Remy Martin the obligatory *free * drink was proffered and asked what they would like with their Cognac, those who answered with a mixer got the cheap stuff, those that asked just as it came got the 50 year old stuff, the bottle was placed on the table and left with the proviso that you put the top back on when you had had sufficient, The second was at Bushmills and again those that asked for a mixer got the cheap stuff, as it came got the vintage stuff again with the proviso to put the top back on (we got a lemonade! ) I can't see that happening theses days and the tours were free!

I disagree, the sweetness of the Terry's lends itself to a Sangria and a 20 year old Jamie from torres is simply superb knocking most xo cognac for six.
Couldn't agree more🥃 - we're also partial to a Terry's😋

After a very windy journey from Haro to Santander we managed to snag a pitch on the aire in the centre of the city (sort of, up the hill and down into the port).
Lucky really as we do have a restaurant booked for tonight in the city.

What a fabulous tour you two have had! I’m of the opinion that gastronomy in Spain is better than France! You two have certainly been trying to prove that point! 😉

I’ve bookmarked several restaurants on Google…✔️

As others have said, I’ve no idea how you put it all away and remain so un ‘porky’ like! 🤪

Also, being tee total, I feel I miss out on a lot of the experiences with food and drink combinations…😢

It’s been a fabulous and enjoyable gastronomical trip to vicariously enjoy! 👍🏻

I still think the sticky toffee pudding you cooked is up there with one of my best deserts ever! 🤪

When do you board?

Thank you for such an informative and amusing account of your travels through Spain. We’re planning Feb, Mar, Apr and will be taking some inspiration from you guys. We need to wait a year for the food and drink to be restocked, legendary, thanks.

Last nights meal was interesting, but it didn't quite do it.
The staff and the ambiance were lovely and some elements of the food really worked but overall it missed the mark, shame really.
The wine was superb.
