Gareth & Phil have fun in Spain 2025.

We had a lazy afternoon , just nipped into Alcampo hypermarket and wow it's one of the better ones, it's massive.
We walked into the city for an evening of beer, wine and tapas sampling.
Lovely selection plus the added advantage of burgos black pudding which definitely gives Bury black pudding a run for it's money, sorry I said it I know 😀.
This is our third visit to Burgos, the first time returning back to the UK because of covid and hearing the banging of pan lids reverberating around a very empty car park.
The last time we managed to see the city and it is a good one to add to the list if you have not been here.
Lamb shoulder done asador style washed down with rioja red wine was fabulous last time but last night was all about the tapas.

Well, you're definitely getting the last inch out of your trip. Great photos, especially of the two of you.

Since we cut down on food in August, we find we can't eat a big meal any more, so tapas is the way to go for us. You've shown some interesting ones, thanks.

Have a safe journey back and see you again on a thread somewhere soon.

Thank you, we are definitely going to have to moderate our food intake in the next few months, even though last night we thought we may have somthing different from Spanish i pointed out to Phil it's going to be too long before we get the chance to have these wonderful ingredients again. Spanish all the way for the next few days 😁😁

shame this enjoyable thread has to end, it’s been lovely reading and seeing the pics of places, food and you two although I suspect I’ve put on lbs just salivating over the food porn..

hope all goes well with the snagging on your Moho, and that you’re back on the road shortly delighting us all once again, thank you.. :)

There is or was a really good Spanish restaurant in Manchester just over the road from spoons.

That food looks nice. Where was that in Burgos please. So we can add it to the list.

Last time I was there I made the journey on my 1959 Lambretta.

Yes, unfortunately brexit and covid destroyed there trade, they still have the Liverpool one i think.
Lunya? We had a wonderful suckling pig meal there for son & DiL's wedding.

We are in Haro, lunch was at a tapas bar we have been into many times but this was the first time we dined in the back section which is the restaurant. It was excellent.

That's interesting, I didn't think suckling pig was legal in the UK.
I’ve just googled it and there are lots of suppliers in the UK. Nothing to say it’s illegal. Obviously it’s expensive here though.

We both have a good grasp of culinary and Beverage Spanish.
Phil has more than me on conversational but in all the places a few words will go a long way, after that Google is your friend.
Don't worry just go for it 🙂

I always have said that if 2 people want to communicate, they will, no matter the language.

Can you remember the name of the Restaurant in Burgos where you had the Tapas?

We had a walk about this morning, on route we had planned to call into a wine shop which is also a wine bar but unfortunately they were closed (fathers day up here) no matter googled and found another store that was open. Topped up on some special wines.
The cellar is full, no more space in payload or allowance.
First picture is of the trolley from the Alcampo on the outskirts of Haro, I do love this town 😀.
Off out for lunch now, pictures later.
