We are currently in the south of France and noticed some v long queues at petrol stations this am. Our neighbour where we have stopped has made us aware that the refineries have walked out on strike so no fuel is making its way to forecourts

I was wondering if anyone is aware how long this might be going on for ???

Heading to Le Crotoy, and we’ve seen two tankers at the motorway services.

We filled up at Saumur this morning, and topped up (€30 limit) at Vernuil Sue Avre.

We have enough to get to the tunnel and beyond - happy days - hope everyone else manages ok.

Oh, and thanks to the Funsters who alerted us to the problem - we’ve heard nothing about it here, and really wouldn’t have known anything was wrong until it was too late!

No diesel anywhere around Dunkirk or Calais, so we went the 20 miles into Belgium where we got some with no problem. Shopping at Leclerc this morning noticed about a dozen gendarmerie vans filling, so made enquiries - only for emergency vehicles. Your gendarm informed us they had just driven up from the south on a 12 hour drive - obviously for a reason, so what are they expecting?

Only 1% ?! Really??

The French government admitted 2 days ago that one in five filling stations were affected, but this was seen as them playing down the situation which was in reality substantially worse.

In south east France, I haven't seen a filling station with any diesel for three or four days, not just Total, but supermarkets including Super U and Intermarche. (I haven't seen a Total Energies site on open with fuel for over a week).

Managed to top up at a small one pump garage 4 miles outside Roussillon. Totally unexpected. Had driven pasted and had to reverse to get turned into the site. Thankfully other drivers very understanding. 30 litres max but only took 17. However we have to be in Amsterdam by the 19th oct for our sailing. Missing out a couple of planned stops. Currently at Fontaine de Vaucluse at CCP site. Very busy. Avignon tomorrow then start our journey north. Had planned to go through centre via La Flour but not sure thus us the best option in the circumstances. Other option is via Lyon, Nancy, Metz etc. Any opinions as to best option?

We tried a Super U forecourt that from its roadside display appeared to have diesel earlier today, but had actually just run dry. A few miles further we found a small Avia site at Riez that had diesel and topped up (we were still over half full), but at €1.99 a litre it stung a bit - practically UK prices!

I suspect it's going to get worse before it gets better.

Looks like we are doing a similar journey but in reverse. We were in Avignon last week, and at the CCP site at Fontaine de Vaucluse a couple of days ago. (Walked up to the source of the river, and also across the aqueduct. Quite spectacular even in autumn. Must be phenomenal in the spring).

I think we passed the filling station near Roussillon that you used earlier today - passed it before we had spotted it - from memory diesel was around €2.20 a litre. Ouch!

Have a safe journey north.

Gave up with France today, getting fuel was becoming a nightmare, been over for the last 10 days and was just getting worse. We were in the Ardeche till today ques everywhere for fuel and loads of stations run out. Heading for Italy then back in through Germany over the next 2 1/2 weeks.
Gutted as we love France but the beauty of the camper is you can change plans and just go.
Good luck if your still there and it's not as bad where you are.
Dearest we saw was 2.96 at one station on the autoroute we got the rationed 30l at 1.96 a bit further down.
Kenny.

Wasted two hours yesterday getting fuel as I had ½ a tank. After going a few miles south no fuel shortages.
Now in the Dordogne fuel avaliable everywhere we have passed through.
We should've went West. 🤣🤣

We've been pottering around Ceveenes National Park, not many fuel stations there, late this afternoon we came across one near Florac-trois-rivieres.
No queues, no restrictions but at 2.18 for diesel it was eye watering. Still we now have a full tank. The range shown on the dashboard is still 100 miles short of what the Sat Nav says our wanderings to the tunnel needs. Will need to find a bit more fuel in the next few days.

Our local Intermarché in Chalus was selling diesel at 1€86.8 on Sunday when i filled the car up ready for a string of hospital visits to come (petrol at 1€68.9), but no limit on quantity. Today diesel is at 1€93.7 (petrol 1€72.1). The lunchtime news on the BFM channel was talking about "inflated prices" and "advantage taking" Lenny HB , just to the south of Pageas, and aire you have stayed at in the past.

Yes sounds like it to me.If you have fuel & aren't going to get aanother delivery why would you increase the price ?? It is just greed.

Hi folks. If you can get over to Belgium they have fuel. It is about €1.95 but might get you home. Good luck

Major problem in northern France at the moment. We had a very near miss over the last couple of days in Arras where we were running on diesel fumes. Waited in a Carrefour supermarket car park overnight waiting for an expected delivery which didn’t turn up. Took a gamble and headed to an Intermarche with a huge queue but thankfully got enough to get to Calais. Special mention to the »petrol » app which shows stations with fuel and price on the day - it saved our bacon today. The French government website is awful. Learnt a big lesson this trip - fill up when you can!

This is the one we use for real-time fuel prices, plus LPG.

Anyone near Narbonne, how’s the diesel situation, to quote Billy Connelly, “over 60 never pass up the opportunity to have a piss”, this saying has now bleed over into “ never pass a filling station in France without topping up”🤔

We topped up in the Intermarche at Marquis, just off the A16 today.

€1.93 but no queue. 👍
