FRANCE ON THE CARDS

Maybe later in the week changes might be announce but thats only for testing or quarantine on the return still need a test to go to France but less restrictions.
We just want the return quarantine to be lifted and we are good to go to France. I also think Germany will allow UK visitors with both jabs to enter before the end of July.

Fingers crossed for you all :-) Nothing said at the moment but not sure if things will change this side if infections rise to 50,000 as predicted at tonights briefing ! The chances of getting my grandkids over or us to visit the other way is fast going into the distance :-(

Why should anyone have to pay to go into a Cathedral or church is beyond me
The COE continues to take money from the poor and needy. No wonder I no longer believe in the big guy in the sky. The greatest con of all times.
They need repairs and the church employs staff so have to raise money somehow. Probably especially non-believers as you won't be contributing to the collection plate either! Not that I'm a believer either but I can understand the need to raise money!:giggle:

The opulence of the Spanish cathedrals is far greater and one can even more understand the great poverty that building them must have created.

I take the opposite view. The first time that I walked into the Vatican and saw those magnificent altars I realised that a lot of very rich people must have bought their place in heaven. The 'poor' people would have been paid to build them...

Just to try and get back on topic about travel if I'm reading this correctly in today's german media double vaccinated travellers do not have to take a pre covid test, they only need to show proof of their double vaccination. So if you fly into Germany from the UK you only have to show double jab proof. I assume you cannot transit from the Eurotunnel straight to Germany but have to initially comply with the current french regulations where a covid test is required?

Just found this re France and the 3 batches of Indian made vaccine: dated July 5th.

”France has ruled out accepting India’s Covishield vaccine – thought to have been widely used in the UK – unless the European Medicines Agency (EMA) authorises it.”

link https://www.connexionfrance.com/Fre...s-to-review-acceptance-of-UK-s-Indian-vaccine

so the political squabbling as to where the 3 batches are actually ‘Covishield’ or not will continue.

Brussels is not known for quick action… I’m sure it will be eventually passed but as to when? I’d hoped France would have seen sense and done a Germany, Spain thing but I feel they are still punishing us! Maybe auntie Merkel will have a word in Macron’s shell like when she’s next taking his pram around the park…

It doesnt look as if last years rules of transiting France to Germany without setting foot in France or Belgium apply (at the moment)

I m quite relaxed about the 5 million jabs being authorised by EMA in the near future as at least 7 (including Germany) are accepting us. France is the one major touristy country that hasnt and economics and politics will play their part after the officialdom of our double jabbees non Q return is available (IMV)

So! We have now both taken our tests this morning and got a self looking certificate to shove up the nostrils of the Frency Border plod. Ferry crossing due for 5 pm but sod that. We will go there in the next hour and see what they do might get an earlier crossing if there running as its very high gusts of winds down here.

If you display that attitude to our French friends then it is highly likely that they will respond in kind...
Have a good trip!

Just seen the sea at Shoreham, it’s ROUGH, glad we’re on the tunnel this afternoon!

This is easier. I would wait and see what the entry requirements are before returning and then take it from there. Loads of private and affordable antigen testing in France.
This may have been covered previously but can you confirm that an Antigen test is sufficient to get into France? Obviously this test shows if you have antibodies from a vac or prior exposure as opposed to the PCR that shows if you are covid postive (or not) at the time. Since the antigen test is a lot cheaper it would be good if that is acceptable on it's own?
Thanks

Well we're through all the checks at Dover. U know police said its who you get with the French, some are easy some, like the one we had are brutal. Thought we would wait here at the ferry port for a few hours but there chucking us on the next ferry and it looks rougher than a badgers arse out there
Only one ferry allowed in then out again so there are delays already. Soon be chucking our guts up no doubt but able to get some milage in when we get over.

parthianshot - I think you've got your terms confused. Antigens and antibodies are effectively the opposite of one another. An antigen test will not show if you have antibodies. It will show the presence of the antigen, in this case the virus.

At present an antigen negative test result is accepted along with the vaccination certificate/pass and the declaration.

Ah, OK. So what is the difference between an Antigen test and a PCR? (never too old to learn something new !)

AFAIK a PCR is a type of antigen test. It magnifies any genetic material in the sample ( and checks to see it it matches the virus), so is very sensitive - can be oversensitive at times as it will detect bits of dead virus hanging around.

Hi,

Yes they are, we just came through and now waiting to board delayed ferry. We are the only motorhome along with about 40 cars and 2 vans. Very quiet.

I should have added we're delayed while they do a search for migrants who have snuk on board.
I hope they have their vaccination and test certificates with them.

Strange the migrants going the other way.

I’d imagined they got on when the boat came from France…

Of course! It's a bit obvious dont you think ! Anyway they nailed two of them and as we were driving up the ramp we saw them being put in the cage ready for transporting. A DFDS loading marshal had quiet a chat with me while waiting to be loaded and he said all the single migrants are based back almost immediately. He went on to say P&O seemed to attract more migrants than DFDS. Perhaps there security at Calais is more shoddy.

All the best for your trip PhilandMena.
I plan to go over next week. I have printed off my vaccine record and the declaration.
Is a printed copy acceptable or do they want to see the app? I also have a screen shot.
Bon voyage

Did they ask to see your test results as well?
