France in December

Another question for you seasoned French loving motorhomers, in the region round Colmar theres a lot of German sounding villages, do they speak German round there or do they stick to French?

Alsace area official language is French, the second language is German.
That's a long way to go for a week and have you got winter tyres or chains with you?

Hi Lenny HB MichaelT and scousebird I was wondering about the languages as I can get by in German, hopeless with French, don’t even know how to ask for class 2 on the speaker button (class 2 bitte)
I was thinking Brittany at first, then stumbled upon a few nice villages in the Alsace region and the travel time and mileage is about the same🤷‍♂️
Yes I’ve got snow tyres on and chains in the garage👍

We did that a few years ago and Alan would like to go back
It was brilliant the first time we went 1992, I was a bit disappointed when we went a couple years ago. They have modernised it and it's lost its original character.

It’s looking like the trip is off (thanks Boris) as we can’t take the extra time off work due to any isolation till the new PCR negative test comes through!
Do you have a plan B.

Nope😤😤 I guess I’ll just have to keep going to work, that nice covid 19 doesn’t affect me at work, only when I cross the channel it seems🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️
Another holiday coming up, another lockdown announced, walking around in the big smoke this weekend I think that we don’t have to worry about what comes from abroad, you would be a lot safer being abroad then being here, never seen it so busy on the streets as this year, as for pcr reintroduced , that’s just to put some more money in the accounts in the Cayman Islands of their chums aka sponsors.

Which way did you go? Through Belgium?
Any form filling, any stoppages?
Yes via Belgium, I did fill in the online PLF last week but no stoppages or anything. Stopped at the boat lifts last night.

Forgot to say, walked over to the Bakery and they are shut on Monday even though I could smell them baking🙁🙁
On the way back stopped on a Thursday night and Friday morning and they were shut again🤬🤬
Only the little shop down the road a bit was open…

That reminds me last time we were there a Morelo was parked with front wheels so far up the his ramps the wheels were sitting on a knife edge on the top of the ramps, surprised he didn't go swimming.
We remember that too!

Isn't' that what Aires are all about the freedom to roam not be bound by any rules?

We will not get tunnel till 8:20pm Friday so 9:20 French time so will not arrive till 10:30-11pm, apart from having to get out of van to turn gas on it will be park up, handbrake on, levellers down, beer out can't see any problem so long as you don't go banging doors or anything.
hi . just tell us where you will be next so we can avoid you . i am sorry but that's so disrespectful to your fellow campers .val

The big concrete area is pretty much flat so don’t know why he was up like that?

Some people just have to be dead level.
We pulled up at the Wooda site in Bude, girl gave us the pitch number and I set up.
Had a stack of blocks in the front and the levellers fully out and could still not get anywhere near level.
Front wheels would have had to be about 2ft off the ground to get level, didn’t fancy the van slipping off and damaging the rams so they moved us after I complained.

Trouble is when your near on 9m long what only looks like a little incline can be a fair bit over that length.
