The Global Hawk is an unmanned drone, watching and listening.

Seems to have started from Sicily.

Seems to have started from Sicily.
US and NATO Global Hawks operate out of US Naval Air Facility, Sigonella, Sicily.

The track showing it getting really close to the Crimea coast is possibly a bug - they’re by no means stealthy and can’t imagine Russians would resist shooting one down for the propaganda value

Didn't realise they are good for flights of 12000 nautical miles.

I wondered if they were baiting the Russians as it’s the first time I’ve seen the drone that close to Crimea unless it’s a tracking glitch.

Some scary videos of a flight that somehow flew right through a nasty hail storm. Broke the nose cone clean off and shattered the cockpit window.

There's a video in the comments section of this link...

No, still a couple of weeks away from completion of repairs.

Talking aviation a twin engined WW2 RAF aircraft with D day stripped markings flew over Shrewsbury this afternoon, it was about the size of a Dakota, could have been a Blenheim or Beufighter, any ideas.
It was probably a Dakota... they have one for training the pilots on tail draggers before going on to the Lancaster. It was big leap from a Chupmunk to the Lanc. This Dakota was at Boscombe before going through Air Atlantic in Coventry for a full structural overhaul. It's cool in its own right though!

Can’t believe I missed this US tanker off Cyprus yesterday showing the Russian base at Tartus, Syria what they think.

If he was doing his racetrack pattern so that means there will have been various other aircraft, possibly fighters etc refuelling from him which were not showing their transponders.

Avro Anson

I think it may have been an Avro Anson, looking at the Vid in the link at high altitude the silhoutte is similar to a Dakota, well it is to me.

Er yeah right…

“The KC-135 Stratotanker (RAKE71) operating in the Eastern Mediterranean adjusted between multiple different flight tracks during the course of the mission,” Goss said in a recent statement. “While these adjustments and movements appear to create a vulgar outline, there was no intent by the pilots or the unit to do so.”

Where’s he headed ?
