Yesterday over Seville. Apparently a few flights diverted to Malaga (heavy fog) but this guy circled for 3 hours, refusing to divert, made one failed attempt to land before finally touching down (in Seville).
Info taken from a facebook group that I belong to.

Over Dartmoor.......

To be frank this is a complete waste of money by the Coastguard service. I went in a little 5 seater helicopter years ago to be told it cost £700 per flying hour! How much has it cost to fly this great big Sikorsky which is just showing off their ability to follow a navigation plan!

I’ll no doubt be called a big Xmas grump for this rant but it’s hardly green either!

Pilot training..Navigator training .. would not take a heli'co'peter long to fly that route.
If not that they would be flying around somewhere else...
We live close to Prestwick airport and the Naval Air Squadron (search and rescue) that used to be based at HMS Gannet were always flying around doing what would appear to be "just out for a jolly" flying.

I posted these two screenshots a few days ago of a German aircraft which was suddenly hundreds of miles further south.
Gps or app ?

Probably no signal so FR24 has just displayed it's estimated route. Usually as the crow flies. When it's eventually found signal it's correct position has been displayed.

When you see pics like this you realise how complex and difficult air traffic control must be!

A flight from Mallaga to Birmingham being diverted due to an on board emergency. Looks like it's heading to Bordeaux.

Probably offload a drunk/aggressive passenger or two

Passengers like that on a UK-registered aircraft with a UK destination are usually best dealt with by restraining them and let the British Police and English law deal with them on arrival.

So it is more likely to be a medical emergency.

"We're go for take off", the Virgin Orbit narrator has just said.

Don't want to be danny downer on this thread as the achievements being made tonight are pretty significant but I do wonder if, with the US's recent pledges to establish a permanent base on the moon along with the UK's satellites being launched tonight, this is confirmation of the hybrid war that has been fought over the last few years officially entering outer space.

‘hybrid war’……..or ‘proxy war’…..??

Released. We’ve just been watching it on
YouTube and also out of the window. Could see it clearly climbing.
