I think that plane might be a heli - 1600ft @110 knots seems too slow for a plane, unless it's a drone.

Interesting choice of training locations by Lakenheath F15s today, rather than the usual North Wales Mach Loop. I believe they were in Taunton area yesterday.

I wonder if these locations are closer in geography to where they predict they might get deployed to, rather than the mountains of North Wales? 🤔

Yup defo Vegas - Nellis Airforce Base

Interestingly, like the other flights mentioned flying from/to military bases near civilian airports, FR24 shows the destination as Las Vegas rather than Nellis, which is on the outskirts. Anyone know what that’s about ?

Its where they fly the drones from, Vegas Baby!

JAKE21 WC135 Constant Phoenix over Cambridgeshire after a busy day out to the North Sea, looks like it might be landing/refuelling at Mildenhall.

The WC135’s mission is to collect samples from the atmosphere for the purpose of detecting and identifying nuclear explosions.

Missed this - RAF E3 Sentry AWACS has been keeping an eye on the contested skies over Birmingham and Norfolk today.

Mostly at 9,000ft rather than the 30+ they normally seem to fly.

Update: apparently retired and in the process of being sold to Chilean Air Force, so maybe training?

Do they think it’s to dangerous to fly down the Moldovan border.

As that’s where I’d be placing a plane.
No I don't. I believe the only risky military activity in that area may be in the black sea and from international waters. I don't believe Russia would target a NATO plane operating in NATO airspace.

Nato could of done with a few ships off the coast of Romania and watch what happened.

The area has got a lot of Ukrainian separatists who if you remember shot down Malaysian Airlines flight 17 with a missile, so it may be dangerous (y)

Would they have a pop at a NATO aircraft, I think not.
I would doubt it if not in their non-Moldovan airspace (as they see it), but who knows? I’ve no idea about the rules of engagement of/for a non-internationally recognised breakaway state which is populated by Russian military.

The black sea is too small IMO to accommodate both Russian and NATO surface ships. NATO know in detail what is happening in Ukraine and is providing some very useful intel to the Ukraine military. No need to put ships into the Black Sea.

It’s not about intel it’s all about having a presence and showing your happy to be there.

If the Black Sea is too small move a couple of Russian ships out 😊

Rumblings on social media that 27 Polish Mig29s might be going to Ramstein, Germany for some much needed “maintenance” to strip out some NATO avionics that apparently “isn’t working” 🤫

I didn't know Russia had or has 'troops' there. No wonder the moldovans are nervous.
If they advance from Odessa to Transnistria, Moldova is in great danger. In Tiraspol you have lots of separatists that can say they are threatened. Stay in nato space for now.

I just heard on the news all of Poland's Migs are to be handed to Ukraine. Poland and its people are doing a pheromonal job with the refugees coming out of Ukraine and I was embarrassed watching the BBC news yesterday to see an English speaking Ukrainian refugee finally find after repeated attempts the United Kingdom help team that had set up in an old building in Calais (Filmed by BBC too) which consisted of 3 staff a box of Kitkats and anouther box of chocolate bars and some bottle's of water. They would not allow filming inside the building. Then the refugee came out saying he had been told he had to go to Paris to apply for a visa. Shambolic and shameful to watch. I have read today that we are now stepping up to the plate on this issue and rightly so. Someone needs a dressing down after that display being seen world wide too.

I thought Turkey accedded to the request not to allow russian ships through the straits by agreeing that only Black sea based ships can leave .All the baltic fleet he sent round we might as well sinkas Erdogan will if it is correct they can't leave.

You may well be right Gus. I think I read a few days ago that one of the Ukraine ports had been engaged from the sea and the Ukraine navy/defence had managed to hit a Russian military vessel. That would have to be in the Black Sea.

Hadn’t heard that.

Seems Turkey isn’t impressed with Putin.

Google search result.

The largest surface combatant currently in the Black Sea is the Slava Class cruiser Moskva. This is an impressive warship, built during the Cold War, and are still formidable today. The Slavas are armed with powerful P-1000 Vulkan long-ranged supersonic anti-ship missiles.21 Feb 2022

Does Russia have a fleet in the Black Sea?

Amidst the growing tensions caused by Vladimir Putin's threats to Ukraine, Russia has launched extensive naval exercises in the Black Sea. Some 30 warships of the Black Sea Fleet sortied from Sevastopol and Novorossiysk over the weekend.16 Feb 2022
