Saw this again this morning but the image does now not appear .

Looks like a RC135 Rivet Joint out of Mildenhall might have taken over the day shift. Perhaps the Rivet Joint has sensors better suited for day time nosiness..

Its now at 53000 ft with a ground speed of only 126 MPH. Could this be a U2 in glide mode ?
After anouther look its flying back and forth along the Donetsk boarder. Got to be looking at the Russian military build up.

We'll see less military aircraft activity now some oligarchs have been locked out there Kensington homes ;)

Ain't war a b*tch?!

I agree. It’s only the ones they want us to see which show up e.g. the overt surveillance planes, drones and tankers

Been watching a USAF KC135 tanker out of Mildenhall which is now doing circuits over Romania. I’m assuming it’s refuelling some planes which are choosing to be more covert

Same tanker LAGR222 still doing circuits over northern Romania near the Ukraine border 3.5 hours later.

Must some very thirsty invisible planes in the area...

2 x A4 Skyhawks over northern Germany. It looks like they might be contract aggressors ("Top Aces") out to play with someone

So obviously military aircraft would like to conduct some activities on the quiet so I presume its entirely up to them to avoid any other aircraft that might be in their vicinity?

Possibly what the tanker over Romania earlier was waiting for - it’s a thirsty trip for a Global Hawk all the way from their base in Sigonella, Sicily

Can a global hawk inflight refuel??

You'd hope so unless the F35 are in the sea and the typhoons are down for maintenance?

Are there any tornados mothballed somewhere?!🤔🤔

I believe so, has to be from a “normal” tanker, but could be mistaken.

If the KC135 wasn’t refuelling the Global Hawk, I’d be fascinated to know what else it was refuelling and what they were doing :)

The next trick is refuelling using drones as tankers and refuelling other drones. I believe the US Navy had been trialling refuelling F/A18s and F35s from a MQ25 Stingray drone off a carrier, so not far off.

Turns out the KC135 was apparently supporting 2 x F16s patrolling over Romania (according to Twitter). So maybe the Global Hawk can’t inflight refuel.

I looked up some of their performance detail and they can gly for up to 30 hours. The one I saw earlier this afternoon was heading away in the direction of Poland and suspect that is where yhey have one based. I don't think they can refuel in the air.
