And you were right people just can’t help themselves!I was not dissing dog owners for having a dog in my post, I said "I just knew that dog owners would struggle with your question Garry", as Garry's question was "So who doesn’t have a dog" and I just knew that all the dog owners would not be able to help themselves and say that they had a dog and post a photo of their fur babies.
How is the packing for your holiday going, difficult I should imagine!?
Define 'lots'...Lots of dog owners these days think it is ok to let their dogs [...] use our garden as a toilet
I define lots as lots, if you want to be precise every day, more then once and no it is not public, I live overlooking a meadow popular with dog walkers and many other members of the public, many dog owners are responsible but unfortunately growing numbers are not, and that is staying polite but it is just what society is these days isn’t it? Let’s not start on people litteringDefine 'lots'...
I certainly can't condone such behaviour but I'm wondering if there might be just a little bit of exaggeration here (unless your garden includes publicly accessible land, beloved of local dog owners)?
I'd be more concerned about what the local (completely out of control) CAT population was depositing on your private patch (between bird slaughtering outings).
New 'Cats...' thread anyone?
Doesn't matter what size of van it is it'll smell of dogs if there's dogs in it. Problem is we dog owners get nose blind to it. Just one of the many joys of dog ownership lol.We don’t have a dog and never will but I can understand their appeal. Hate the extendable leads especially if I’m on my bike as so many people don’t seem to know how to use them.
When I see 2 or 3 of the big hairy dogs in a PVC like ours I always think how smelly that must be on a wet day but I do have a sensitive sense of smell! I suppose you get immune to it. A bit like smokers who are convinced they don’t stink.
Then you need a fence and a gateI define lots as lots, if you want to be precise every day, more then once and no it is not public, I live overlooking a meadow popular with dog walkers and many other members of the public, many dog owners are responsible but unfortunately growing numbers are not, and that is staying polite but it is just what society is these days isn’t it? I have no need or desire to take one (or more) of God's creatures, restrict it's freedom by tying it to a length of cord/leather/chain and subject it to my wishes to prove what a powerful being I am.

No I don’t , I you have no recall control when your dog tries to use other people’s garden as a toilet or is only interested to demolish flowerbeds then you shouldn’t have dogs at all, failing that keep them on a lead ( and not a six meter one. ) people have very little respect for other people’s property these days, I had dogs most of my life and they certainly didn’t get a chance to run riot in other peoples gardenThen you need a fence and a gate
Hacks me off; in a restaurant and there is a dog underneath the next table trying to behave/ get comfortable in a very un dog friendly, un natural environment. If we didn't have a dog we wouldn't have a van! We bought our van as a result of having trouble getting dog friendly holiday accommodation. The final straw was when we booked a dog friendly guest house in Paignton, Devon for 5 nights.
We arrived, got shown to our room, was told that the dog could sleep on the bed if we put the supplied blanket onto the bed. What time is breakfast? 7.45 - 8.45 but you can't take the dog into the restaurant and don't leave the dog alone in the room as it may bark and upset other guests.
Our choice was to put the dog in the car or go for breakfast one at a time!
We asked for a discount (refund) as we would be going into town for breakfast, this request was refused.
We returned home, looked into getting a van, found FUN, spent two years reading everything, visiting dealers looking at vans. Two years later bought our current van, brand new and never looked back. Thanks to FUN we got the perfect van for us at the first attempt, not only that, it's worth almost as much as we paid 7 years ago View attachment 1000351
There's no catch-all TamI couldn't imagine ....when the time comes if they haven't passed by natural causes and needs must I'll be there holding their paw till the last breath and I'll then be taking them with me to find their final resting place.

Ah yes I understand that. I think the way it was worded I imagined folk dropping the dog off at the vet to be put to sleep .There's no catch-all Tam
In my case, Kerry went in for a series of X-Rays. Put under sedation. When they saw the first one, they knew there was no hope. They offered to wake her up for me to say goodbye. It was the kindest [and hardest] thing to do was to let her slip away.
It kills me I never said my goodbyes .
I am not involving you or the dogs Tam, I am sure if you walked through a pretty estate in the UK where just as on ours no one has fences or gates because there is a covenant that prohibits that, that you would make sure that you had your dogs under control, you seem like the kind of guy who respects other people’s property just like you prefer it if people respect yours, you look after your stuff, so do IMost people protect their own property.
You'd be lost outwith the UK then . You'd not only have stray dogs n cats shitting on your lawn but most likely goats sheep n donkeys too.
P.s dont involve me or my dogs neither are near your garden.
But it's a simple solution if you don't want animals going on your property fence and gate your property.
It's worked for centuries
Well my dogs are never off the lead anywhere like that. And they are all on short leads. I'm not a fan of extending leads or anything over a metre to be honest.I am not involving you or the dogs Tam, I am sure if you walked through a pretty estate in the UK where just as on ours no one has fences or gates because there is a covenant that prohibits that, that you would make sure that you had your dogs under control, you seem like the kind of guy who respects other people’s property just like you prefer it if people respect yours, you look after your stuff, so do I
And that brings it back to my point, you care, you try to be a responsible dog owner , many don’t , you see the dog first running riot without an owner in sight, then 30 seconds later someone comes around the corner fixated on a mobile phone, no clue what their pet is doingWell my dogs are never off the lead anywhere like that. that's why I tried to avoid anywhere it might rain.I always think how smelly that must be on a wet day
Is that "no, I do have a dog?"
as said, most places are now open plan.even edging plants & hedges are not allowedBut it's a simple solution if you don't want animals going on your property fence and gate your property.
I bet you aren't ... the image that comes to mind with your 4 on extending leads has you ending up trussed like a Sunday roast joint!Well my dogs are never off the lead anywhere like that. And they are all on short leads. I'm not a fan of extending leads or anything over a metre to be honest.
That can happen even on short leads.I bet you aren't ... the image that comes to mind with your 4 on extending leads has you ending up trussed like a Sunday roast joint!
Just replying directly to the question on the post. As they always said on exams read the question and then read it againthat's why I tried to avoid anywhere it might rain.
