Doc on tour, France, Spain, Morroco.

I'm thinking these 2 guys work together or did before Paul as his garage is where this one used to be . It's where I was 2 years ago but both said and momo were there at that time. And they had the same Instagram page.

Definitely connected somehow .

And going by Google this one has more and higher reviews.
It's hard to know Tam, I think yours will come out dead on but I met a guy last year who was a fussy bastard about his van it was a newish Merc he wanted something done and he said that boy Hassan was top notch and very good at his job

I’m wondering if the Concorde had a bump on the graphics hence the filler
Didn't see anything .. its weird to be honest as the graphic didn't come all the way down to the wheel arch but it's sanded to bare aluminium all the way down there and along the length of the van near the roof.

Problem is Paul everyone says their happy . A few on here have had vans painted by this lot too.

That's why I'm concerned at the masking up. I'll speak to momo in the morning .

Can't believe the feckin luck I'm having with this van .

As I said earlier the bleeding thing is worse than it was
But the paint work is something you want not anything that's gone wrong (yet). But let's be honest you have driven 2000 miles for a cheap paint job and that's maybe what you'll get.

Well actually I came for a good paint job cheap lol not a cheap paint job. I could have done a cheap paint job myself.

I've been following these guys on Instagram for a few years now , they've put out some good stuff which is why all these vans are here. Some of them I'm really surprised the owners are happy with but then as I said I didn't seem them before they were started. But they're rough .

But it is like a revolving door.

But as you say the paint isn't on yet I'll speak to momo the boss guy tomorrow and tell him my concerns.

Is there any other paint shops in tafraoute, I’m not liking what I’m hearing for a metallic paint job on the front of my van…😳
For that kind of money you wouldn’t even get the prep done in any Western European country , let alone a proper spray job, I appreciate that labour is peanuts in Maroc compared to here but you just can’t expect the same quality, I am sure that everyone has seen the kind of equipment they have here in a modern spray shop yes?

Possibly .

But this isn't a bumper that's ready for priming . View attachment 1000716

I'll be speaking to momo in the morning and telling him that isn't getting painted like that
Probably not paint masking but just for rubbing down, to stop damaging the white panels.
I hope it turns out better than the picture your painting!

Nah he's definitely masking it for painting , he thinks he's finished sanding lol. But it isn't happening . Half his masking I've had to pull off as I needed in to my garage and one of the side lockers and he'd masked over them. I've also managed to turn the van around so the side with the stripe I've yet to remove is facing the sun. The heat helps it to come off. No one has turned up yet but I'll be saying to momo this morning that he's not painting anything till its sanded properly.. I'm resigned to the fact its not going to be a fantastic job . I was stupid to bring it here. Moby was different anything done to the paintwork on that would have improved it but I'm now wishing I'd just got the front bumper and wheel arches done on this as I'm worried they make an arse of the front end. I wanted it all to colour match but I'll be very surprised if it does.

I'm not feeling good about it at all , hardly slept last night.

I was reading their 61 reviews on Google and I'm guessing its a very small amount of the vans they've done .. they have half a dozen vans arrive daily so must get through hundreds in a year .

If you've an older van that's seen better days then I can see how the folk think it's a good job but there were a load of newer expensive vans here when I arrived which led me to believe they'd do a good job , I didn't haggle etc as I felt it was a fair price. But I think I'll be throwing away 450 euro lol.

Hopefully they surprise me but I'm preparing to be disappointed

I'd love to know the Germans thoughts on his Concorde and I want to see this newish grey transit camper that's in the paintbooth now

The ones they seem good at Is these matt paint or raptor things

At least you're there when they're doing it and you've got the knowledge and gumption to challenge them. So you can only do what you can do and keep an eye on them. Hopefully that'll be enough to encourage them to do a decent job.

The annoying thing is I'd like a closer look at the few vans that were painted yesterday but It's quite difficult to look at them when there's a proud owner there and you think it looks shit.. not the best way to make friends. The sun is belting off that blue piece of shit this morning and it looks terrible. The paint is almost too shiny but not a nice shine

Tam come home and have the job done properly ,otherwise I think you’ll end up paying twice, many years ago I took our Flair to someone who I was told were realy good he started working on it and it told him leave it alone you haven’t got a clue and drove home. Then paid to have it done properly.

I agree, could end up making the van look worse but then it’s started now🙁

When we paint old tractors here we never use out and out gloss as it makes them more shiny than they ever were from new, I think it's called semi gloss or something similar.

That’s simple enough Tam, have a look but don’t tell them it looks shit! Say things like you are glad they are happy it’s great they are pleased. You don’t need to tell them you think it’s rubbish or lie and say you think it’s a good job.

Raptor paint hides a bad story on all vehicles, why on earth would someone cover good topside panels in underseal, it hides welded patches filler and dents well, not for me,though it's a trend with the overlander cult.

I would be definitely be of a mind to be prepared to pay bill so far and leave, saving much heartache and huge expense for corrective work.
I have seen vans done morrocco,
Done is the key word.

Tam… get up close and have a good look mate, you’ll be unbearable if you let them do a shite job… I wouldn’t give a free loading toss what anyone else thinks… I’ll be going around all the spray shops and inspection everything before I decide who’s going to spray mine….

Tam, if I was in your position, unless I was 100% confident that they were going to do a good job I would be prepared to cut my losses. Pay them what you think is a reasonable amount for time spent and the materials (you have probably already paid for the paint) and drive away. Go to other paint shops and suss them out. Even if it resulted returning back to UK in its present state, this would be much better than forever rueing the moment that you let them proceed. You have a brilliant van there and it’s not worth spoiling it for the sake of the (theoretical) saving.

I believe the advantage of that particular place is that they have an aire attached and you can also see whats going on. Maybe the others do not.

He already knows he can park here.
