Yes I'd I'd just stuck to having the front bumper done grey it wouldn't have been so much a problem .. but I need the front end , the drivers door and the full bottom skirts and bumpers done now. In the UK it would be at least 3k for a good job.

So I'm now committed to just trying to make sure they do as much prep as possible and hope it turns out reasonably well .

Perfect it is not going to be.....I know that for a fact.

Once again I've made a wrong decision. I don't know why I bother anymore.

End of the day I just hope it looks better than it did when I bought it. View attachment 1001010View attachment 1001012
IT looked fine to me (y) (y)

I suspect it will probably be fine. White paint is, I think, much less likely to show minor blemishes when you look at it in daylight than darker or metallic colours. Minor bit of orange peel? You may struggle even to see it. As long as the paint is closer in colour to the rest of the van, which I'm sure it will be given that it's the same paint code being used, it will be an improvement.

It was fine Charlie just the door looked a different colour and front bumper had peeled. The rest was great.

But I figured if I was getting it printed anyway the white like this would look nicer.

Yeah hopefully.

Masking mikey is sanding away .. I don't think he's too pleased with me but meh

I don't want to fall out with the guys as I appreciate they do work a long day with no tools etc .. probably don't get paid much either.

I'm trying to tell myself it could be worse I could own that Concorde or the old horse box thst they're currently ripping the side off of.

I've discovered though half the reviews were left by people with morrocan names 🤣🤣🤣 a lot of said's , one suspects they're not kocher

I take it there not doing the underside then. Which you could just waxoyle yourself to tidy it up and slow rust down. 👍
Nah I suspect that would end up just rust painted over so I'd rather just leave it and do it bit by bit myself

I suspect even factory finish paint has blemishes if you go over it with a magnifying glass, let alone supposedly high end resprays.
Google is full of them.
Yeah I've seen brand new motorhomes too with not great paint .. in particular the grp sided ones .

I think budget brands use different panels to the higher end ones

What I was trying to say is that if you go looking for faults, you'll find them.

I know

But the sanding is very important.. we all know that paint flakes if no adhesion , fiat bonnets suffered that and they were done professionally apparently

We're happy with our van. The roof, front and back, were down to bare metal sun damage. The silver sides wouldn't have matched well with new silver, so we decided on the contrast. The wheel arches were half peeled amd so was the bottom overmthe front number plate. It isn't perfect because the bodywork is 18 years old but it's better by far than it was. We're happy with it, anyway.

The pale areas on top are bare metal.

Just missing the middle bit on the top on this photo.

It was done local to us, so easy to drop off and collect. We were sent daily photos. It wasn't as cheap as Morocco, but less than we expected.

Possibly .

But this isn't a bumper that's ready for priming . View attachment 1000716

I'll be speaking to momo in the morning and telling him that isn't getting painted like that
Paint would last one week on that, probably less in the Moroccan natural sand blaster.

So long as they sand it well enough and get a good coat of paint on it once it hardens it will cut back with 1500 grit and then work back to 3000 then onto the cutting paste etc. you would be surprised how much crap comes out of good spray shops before they finish them, it really isn’t perfect out of the spay booth. If that happens you can call by my place sometime and I will sort it, what you have there will be less than a day to sort. 👍

Good point.

So have it painted and if the surface isn't good enough give it enough time to cure properly and then spend some time and elbow grease "correcting" it.

That looks really good. The contrast suits it

Well he spent a good bit time sanding the rear bumper and rear wheel arches and the shine was definitely off it but then ..

And then they asked me to drive it down to the booth .. its not in yet and nothing seems to have happened yet. That was about an hour ago. Helen Ariel Paul came up for a chat and a walk with the dogs . It's after 6pm though and sat up on our parking space waiting for them to prime the bottom half .
