Do I cancel my new Swift van?

My Swift Kontiki 645 2004 has been a dream, never missed a beat in the 9yrs I have owned it and driven it to the South of France, I look at the interior and finish compared to todays offerings and it really shows how quality has diminished, its just the payload we now need for the grandkids that is forcing us to upgrade for more payload. I have searched for second hand vans with rear lounge and 1,000kg payload and found nothing!
Why do you need 1000kg payload? That's quite high! (Assuming your grand kids aren't rather portly or giants! ? )

I think I have answered your question, we have had our current motorhome for 9 years and has done just as you say, I take exception to calling me a drug dealer or dishonest politician though, perhaps aim that at those that have proper quality vans and not someone like me buying a Lada van as has been commented on, the price of our van is minuscule to what we saw in Germany, maybe you need to get out more!

I take offence I have a better van

I really don't get it ... if you are SO annoyed at the quality then why on earth did you agree to buy one in the first place, you saw the quality of the work and, regardless of what you were told by the dealer, there's no way it would ever match the more expensive ones you've looked at.

You've now mentioned that you are in the LEZ zone and that's obviously an issue which we weren't aware of previously so makes it clearer why you don't want an older MH but you don't have to buy a lower quality new one to meet the LEZ requirements, there are some slightly older much better build quality ones out there, you just need to do the research and find what suits.

Or, as I've asked twice before and won't ask again after this ... what DO you need, berths, kit, payload etc?

When I bought it I knew the quality would be a certain standard, by that I mean quality of fixings e.t.c. I don't mean bodgy work or sloppy finishing, it was only today I saw a video which I have posted and by coincidence my wife was passing within half an hour away so got her to go and have a look, the rest is here for you to see.

I have stated on here loads of times, Euro compliant for LEZ, rear lounge, 5/6 berth, 1,000kg payload and that's it. If I could magic a new Euro complaint engine in my existing van then that would be perfect, I would then just paper exercise the weight up and would be happy, maybe even add air suspension which could be done!

We want to take all our own dive equipment (y)

Rimor do a model called the Rimor Superbrig Suite which has a rear lounge and front dinette (travelling seats) and if it is on heavy chassis it should be able to go up to 4500kg so you'd be able to get the payload you need.

The first I knew you wanted a LEZ compliant one was today in your post #65:
I have a lovely Kontiki 645 I could upgrade payload wise but it’s Euro 3 so as we live in the LEZ are stuffed as it would need all sorts of filters on it once we go above 3,500kg
I don't think I can help anymore so I'll leave this thread for the time being.

Thats all great and I have had a look but I don't want to be paying the surcharge for a Euro 6D engine, I need one available now or good second hand, this is the problem I face (y)

Contrary to my last post I'll reply ... I've done all I can to help ... you need to LOOK for what you want ... no-one can do it for you!

It has been discussed elsewhere as that is the only reason I am selling mine, more payload means non LEZ compliant hence need a newer engine if going over 4,500kg.

As you can see I just cannot find anything second hand and new was only the 596, I can't go over 8m either ;) Thanks

Contrary to my last post I'll reply ... I've done all I can to help ... you need to LOOK for what you want ... no-one can do it for you!
I have LOOKED I spent weeks looking and found NOTHING, I spoke to dealers who were useless, I spoke to some who were helpful but found nothing, I flew to Germany and found the 744 was not suitable, THAT is why I went for the 596, so all those criticising me can now see the impossible task I face, I have ended up back at Swift with no further options.

Stop quoting me o_O ... you just want me to keep replying and make me out to be a liar don't you! ?

If you're in no hurry I'd sell what you have as it obviously doesn't meet your needs at the moment and is just gathering dust on your drive, then you can keep searching for models that will suit and pounce when one pops up! :)

... there is one option ... you could move out of the LEZ ... :imoutahere:

You are barking! (up the wrong tree) thinking quality and swift at the same time.

Just buy a decent luxury motor, stay in hotels on the way or fly to the South of France. Motor-caravans, just bloody delivery vans with crappy old wood and fiberglass and cheap plywood and plastic interiors glued on the back of them.

They are shite, ( I know, I have a motor caravan) Nothing more, nothing less. and yes anyone who owns them have been royally ripped of by the industry, just look at the prices of replacement parts from the dealers when you can buy at B and Q.

Check the prices of thetford arse wipe and the chemicals you colour your shit with....

I feel that the Swift group reached their peak in the late 90s & began to tail off sharply in the mid 00s.
Our last new caravan was a 2011 Sterling Explorer & it looked really smart but, after a few months we had become all too aware of its shortcomings.

Hi not really to do with the make of the cab it's the coachwork that's the issue I have an Adria and the. Quality is second to none can't find fault with any of it at all , personally I would cancel any British van and opt out for a foreign makewhere quality control is much better, in my opinion
I've never owned an Adria motorhome but of the 5 or so caravans I had in the past the Adria was streets ahead of the rest in terms of engineering quality, fit, and finish.

Am I DREAMING or am I in cloud cuckoo land,,4 pages of absolute nonsense, ,,,Never read such contradicting nonsense.. BUSBY
... not read much on the forum recently then!

Why?

If you look closely at the side marker it is exactly on the raised portion of the indent.

That trim picture is meaningless with a better clue to it's scale. But you really are picky if you's reject it for that.
