Data bundles at the moment?

Unfortunately not, has a page for it in advance setting but it comes up blank.
Sometimes this is just a rendering issue, check the page source html to see if data is there but just not drawing correctly. It is likely that that the page is just blank but you never know, also does the router have a cmd line telnet or something that may show some stats. They are there it is an issue sometimes getting to them

I have gone over totally to mobile internet, to gauge usage before settling on a suitable contract, I used a giffgaff sim 80Gb for £20. Set iPlayer and firestick to lower resolution (can't tell the difference) OH only watches YouTube and I watch some catchup every night never gone above 50GB in a month. We now have a 60GB Vodafone sim each (100GB ones not available when we took out contract) tether to phones no buffering and where ever we are internet is too.
Last time in Portugal with a NoS sim I used 70 gb in 20 days and wasn't using anything like the amount of data I use at home.
We do have a daughter in Thailand so lots of video calls.

Double check they are the ones you can use as much or little data per month as you wish as they do one (or used to) that eeked it out at a rate of 1gb per month max.

Yes they are the old ones Mel, reduced them and was supposed to end in November but still have old stock. 😁 Bob.

Just seen this on HUKD. Seems good if you like Vodafone and dont mind cashback...

60gb 5G £20 pm but down to £11.25 pm after Autocashback (paid automatically??)
1yr contract

Sitting on the summit of the Sevilio pass Italy perfect data stream watching Amazon prime. Smarty has worked faultlessly through out Germany Austria and Italy unlimited data calls and texts £18 per month. Data throttled to 20 gb per month whilst roaming its a bargain. Never needed to alter the apn settings.

Just received SMARTY SIM so good to hear it working OK. Smudger55

We're roaming - no problems at home although only used about 25Gb In the first week of activation of the SIM before heading abroad.
Be interesting to know how you are getting on with the superdrug sim now you have been abroad a month. Has it been capped at 20gb pm like all the other Three mvnos? Or have you been able to use unlimited data as though in the UK?

With regards to the Smarty SIM, yesterday I asked if it was possible to top up the 20GB limit by using their data add-ons whilst in the EU. They confirmed that it could be done, and it would cost the same as when in UK, i.e. £1 per Gb. Given that I used to buy preloaded Three SIMs for my motorhome mifi that worked out more expensive than that I suspect that is what I will be doing once I have finished using the preloaded SIMs I have already got.

Just renewed contract with Vodafone (SIM only) £20 per month 100GB, which I am told I can use in Europe. Was on unlimited data package but this but restricted to 25 GB in Europe. We will see.
PS If you are ex forces then use your Blue Light Card for additional discount with Vodafone.

2 or 3 years ago £1/GB would have been an absolute bargain as we didn't stream in those days now though it could get very expensive.

Just got the same one, though through Mobiles.co.uk. Works out to about £7.50 pm after cashback (y) Thanks Minxy Girl 😘

You must learn to look at of the window more Lenny rather than watching the idiot's lantern. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

We watch an hour or two of local TV just to see if we can understand the rules of the obscure game show. As for data we Facetime a couple of times a week to the kids and look on t'internet and emails. I reckon 20Gb a month will do us, but it is good to know that I can top it up at a reasonable price if I have to. And I still have 2 unopened preloaded SIM cards that have already cost me £2 per Gb to use up!!

I usually buy a Vodafone PAYG data sim £25 for 15GB lasts 90 days. Our last trip was only 30 days bought a EE sim on eBay with 30GB that lasted 30 days from the day they despatch. Also if in Portugal I buy the NOS unlimited data sims.
I don't bother with 3 as they throttle the speed when roaming.
How much are the NOS unlimited data sims ? On top of my Vodafone simm I’ve got a 80GB sim from GiffGaff for £20 but they limit it to 20GB when roaming. I’d like to swap it for a Portuguese one when I arrive there. Does it get throttled if using in a MiFi ?

€15 for 15 days, €20 for 20 days, €30 for 30 days. They only work in Portugal, I had a 20 day one last year it worked for 22 days I used 74GB on it.

Ah OK thanks, I’ll check them out when I get there presumably NOS have shops in the high street where I can get one.

As Pugsy did I just contacted superdrug mobile support. They confirmed there are no limits on the unlimited plan when in the EU, time or data, no restrictions same as when in UK. Also you can upgrade or downgrade the plan on a monthly basis.

So for myself unlimited when touring, but perhaps less when just short trips in UK.
Well if that’s true it’s great...but in my experience anything unlimited has the potential for limiting or throttling when roaming....they say right to you face that it’s no problem but I’m not so sure....especially if you put it in a MiFi device which has much more potential to use large amounts of data.

I have exactly same....Giff Gaff 80GB for £20 and 60GB Vodafone for £20. The Giff Gaff limits to 20GB when roaming though....so am going to abandon that and go with Lenny HB ’s local Portugal one when I get there.

Yes there are NoS shops, last one I bought was from a small mobile accessory shop at a supermarket entrance.

If in Spain too you can get a local card PAYG sim called Simyo. Its 17euros for 35gig and you can roam with it

Ah right thanks....I think a local sim plus a UK sim is the way to go.

Vodafhone have got a special PAYG on at the moment ends on 3rd September (or 15th ?). Anyway, for £30.00 you get 100GB this can be put into a MiFi and will work in the E.U. It lasts for 30 days.

Little update on the Unlimited Superdrug mobile SIM, we arrived in France to day and it found Orange F but no data. It was in our mifi and had been used throughout the UK fine but did not connect en France.

Turns out our mifi had picked up the 3UK settings and not allowed for International. So we had to Google .... 'superdrug mobile apn settings europe'. Very easy and simple, when entered all worked well am now going to try and use alot more than 20gb or whatever peeps think the limit might be.

APN settings should be
  • Name :Superdrug.
  • APN : superdrug.net.
  • Proxy : Leave Blank.
  • Port : Leave Blank.
  • Username : Leave Blank.
  • Password : Leave Blank.
Thats all I entered, worked great in the mifi if using in the phone then there are alot of other settings for MMS etc..

EE £20 per month for 100gb and free roaming per month, £18 per month if you are an existing customer.

Technical questions on using a firestick 4g.
How much data does it use for say a Netflix film of say 2 hours? Is the data used different for different apps ie Netfix or Prime. I have 20gb of data package.
Can you have a nowtv app on firestick to watch sport (I don’t bother with Sky as only watch golf majors).
Just discovered that I cannot mirror from my iPhone (not supported on firetv) so is there a way around it? Started to work my way through it but the wine got to me first! Be very grateful for any advice.
