I'm sure most of you have been there, bought your motorhome then had to wait to picking it up. I put the deposit down in October and the dealer told me it will be registered on the 1st of march. So the countdown is 8 weeks today, anyone else in the same boat can join in.
Mickey.

Woohoo just got a call to say my van will be arriving on the 24th March and we have a collection date of 7th April(y)

Just phoned Comfort to get it insured. We paid £285 with and option of £60 for euro breakdown cover to be added when we get our motorhome.

Brilliant news :D:D

Should come with Fiat Camper Care for 2 years so you won't need to pay the £60.

When l mentioned to the dealer about fiat cover, he said it was better to have European breakdown cover with your insurance company as well.

Why? My mate had to use Fiat cover in Belgium no problems at all, very efficient.

He more or less said it's basic cover, where as you will get a better cover from your insurer. He's not selling me the insurance so I had no reason to doubt him.

Agreed - my last two vans had the Fiat/RAC cover provided and although I never had to call on their services, the cover and small print was enough for me not to need anything else in place.

@Mickey1 A lot of salesmen are not motorhome users, so may not be so well informed away from their own line of business and from what I read on forums, sometimes not even in their line of business :D

Only difference with the Fiat cover is it will not cover hotel expenses in the UK but does cover train fares home and to collect the vehicle after repair. Safeguard does not cover hotel expenses at all for vehicles over 3500kg.

Big thanks to all Countdown followers who helped keep my spirits up during the long wait. (y)

Picked 'her' up today (dealer said it was a she) and we drove the 40 odd miles home. The rain didn't dampen our spirits at all and we even managed a couple of sojourns into the middle lane of the motorway ;)

Will try and upload a couple of pictures over the weekend if the rain takes a break!

We'll sleep well tonight (although I have about 2 feet of manuals to read) but may have to wake up early to pop out and check it's still there and I didn't dream it ::bigsmile:

Well done lovely van. But beware when reversing out with the blind spot and the wall. I did that with my Fiat Ducato Medium wheelbase 1 week after picking it up. It was my work van and I ripped the side of the door

Yippee ........ huge congratulations. If you're anything like us, you'll think you've bought everything you need until you go out for the first time. I've not stopped shopping yet . Enjoy your first trip out, can't wait for our next one.

Having already treated us to an 11kg bottle of gas, today I found the dealer had given us some toilet chems and a 25m EHU lead (they weren't there when we looked at the van on Tuesday). Didn't have the heart to tell him we'd already bought them ;) Will have to do a nice write up on them at some point - Signature Motorhomes of Preston (y)

@Vanman , it's actually Thursday pick up, not at all prepared, lol.

Mickey.

I made a list of things to ask etc ... and then forgot to take it with me LOL. I also had a last minute panic in case there was little/no diesel in it - so planned out the route to nearest station.

So did mine, this time. Last time I bought a car though it was full of fumes only and I learned an important lesson whilst driving round with the extra unwanted new car stress of needing petrol and being in a strange town.

This time tomorrow I should be just about finished the handover. So a few beers tonight for a good nights sleep. I've got this feeling everything's going to be ok this time, hope I'm right. Looking forward to meeting a few funsters soon.
