Does seem strange using something, paying what was asked then saying it’s to expensive. Must of had the money to pay it or would not of used it.

I know - it's a stupid system. I guess you could say 6 people use more water, toilets, showers than 2?
And linthwaite up the road, know locally as linfit

Prices have exceeded a limit I think. I need one night next month and looked at search for sites. Plenty of choice. One being a club site (Maragowan) but at £35+ seemed too expensive for us. There is availability all through July and August there. I watched a YouTuber visiting New England Bay a couple of weeks ago and the place is empty. Lots of prime seafront pitches available. It seems to me that people are voting with their feet now.

I haven't used a CAMC site for almost two years now. They will probably use the trend to justify replacing more touring pitches with Glamping Pods at even more exorbitant prices.

Cancelled my membership after trying to get on a site at Bridlington and discovering the per person charge as well as pitch, only wanted 1 night as we were heading up to Whitby and so we found Thorpe Hall nr Rudston 5 mins from Brid, over £45 at CAMC and at the low season price £22 at Thorpe hall, we stopped again on the way down, a nice friendly site and helpful staff, with a shop/fishing/kids play area/EHU/TV, no bar/club house but a pub just down the road if needed.

We are a small, family friendly Caravan Site by Yorkshire East Coast standards (78 Pitches). We cater for Caravans, Tents and Motorhomes and are open from the 1st March until the 31st October.
Not sure if they do. But I’ve not looked I can’t imagine any of that equipment is cheap though and I’m assuming it’s originally funded from the sale of pitches as that was there income.

Well we are having a fabulous time on the CAMC at Melrose, every pitch is full, people sitting out relaxing in beautiful sunshine, more Motorhomes than caravans I think. Off to Provindor restaurant for dinner later.

Not been in Provender as it's not dog friendly (one of a very few in Melrose so can't comment) but if you haven't been we can really recommend the Rak Thai opposite The Station Hotel for a carry out. Best Thai we've ever had.
Hi, rip off !!!We are off to Bristol at the weekend. I was already thinking it was a rip off at £45 per night for 2 people. Only going because its where I grew up and the site is shutting soon.
Just received an email to say they are increasing prices due to electricity costs. not only that - they are asking us not to use the electricity as much as possible!!!
Back to CL sites in future.
there is a cl in Clifton (a farm, with ehu,)

Personally I didn't think it was a rip off taking into account location and quality of site.
But do give details of the CL....sounds odd that there's a farm in Clifton???

It's ok....located it. Long Ashton not Clifton. Quite a difference and nowhere near as convenient as the Baltic Wharf site. Will keep it in mind for the future but reading reviews it does seem to have one or two problems.
Not really comparing like with like.

I’m not accusing anyone here but the per person price and separate pitch fee is so open to abuse is a site owners dream come true. I find the best value is to join into the fun rallies or use cheaper Cls. I haven't rejoined the 2 big clubs. The rallies are great good venues and very reasonable costs.

After using a cl for the first time last week, we will not be using big sites anymore.

For me, it's all about location, location, location.
CL's tend to be in remote rural locations, which is not where I want to be.
I don't want to have to drive to an attraction or a pub for lunch.
As a solo with a dog - commercial site pricing is unattractive. "Price includes 2 adults", then have to pay extra for the dog.
A lot of CL's have pushed their prices up so as to be similar to a full facility club site with pitch fee + per person pricing.
For example - Happyford CL near Louth is £20/night...
I had Berwick CAMC booked in April for £20.60/night, Bridlington in June for £25.60 [the Thorpe Hall Estate mentioned above would have cost £33pn for the same period]

As a park owner I’d like to just give one set of figures. My gas and electricity bill for June 21 for one month was 4K. This June 11k. I’ll just leave that there

That's 175% I don't doubt your figures but I I hadn't been aware that prices have risen to that extent. Is it because commercial prices are higher than domestic I wonder.

I appreciate your extra huge price hikes to operate a good service and fully understand why the prices of pitches are going up which to me are not unreasonable. But where do you stand when it comes to charging extra for putting your awning up on your pitch that you are paying for already.
Pay packets, I don't know about camping clubs specifically but lots and lots of charities have people at some level of administration with seriously high salaries.
Edit, sometimes pay packets are 'external' i.e. payments for services, such as fundraising. I don't think that applies to C&MC but maybe I'll do a bit of research, see what they are doing with it all.

- Ever since lighting was by Calor gas.
We don't charge extra for an awning. We do for extra people. Costs and use of showers etc. We don't charge extra for an extra car or scooter. But I will elaborate just slightly on some costs. I developed a seven acre green field park. 60 pitches. Without costings for lawn mowers toilet block staff chemicals, the list goes on. Just for the cost of water services, stands pipe, electric supply cables and hook up points, sewage treatment plant and chemical waste storage, roads and pitches all hard standing (gravel) I spent £820000. The season is April to October and only full during main season. Truth be told £40 a night is a bargain but we have to charge the local going rate. I am often surprised when I hear people (motoring is still my hobby) say to me £30 - £40 a night just for a piece of grass. It really isn't just a piece of grass

Problem is the funds are being invested into glamming pods, huts and the like. That is not right when many pitches are in a poor state.
You doubt my figures. You have no idea the size of my parks and yes we are charged commercial rates on water gas and electric. I didn't include water figures and we are charged per cubic meter. There is no cap on LPG and oil
