Sites probably fairer than some hotels. We recently stayed at one which had a pool, gym, sauna, evening entertainment etc. All we wanted was a bed and dinner but we still had to pay for all the other bits. Most sites we have stayed on charge extra for dogs, many in spite of not actually offering any facilities for them.

We have booked a site in southern France for a few days to meet someone whose tent camping there. All pitches are ehu optional. They all have ehu but if you don't want to use it you don't have to pay the extra, which if you do approximately doubles the price. I don't know how this works in practice till we get there, possibly a lock of some sort.

Yes, it’s fairly common practice as many sites also allow you to upgrade amperage by swapping RCB.

We have been to sites in France where they come round and put circuit breaker in (with number of amps you've paid for) then they lock the box, if you trip it after hours then no leccy till morning....
