Caravan and Motorhome Club price hikes.

We do not need electric hook up, and not see why we should pay for it. So we will be taking advantage of the CL and CS network, especially those without EHU. For that reason only we will retain our membership, and, yes, I know it is very unlikely that we will asked for our membership cards.
Do CCC still have non hook up pitches on their sites? It's a while since we stayed on one.

It’s not compulsory you know , we are members of both and enjoy 99.9 % of our visits to the sites , Chatsworth at Easter and I don’t give a fig about the cost , I’m gonna have me some FUN in my Motorhome 💡👍
I know and that's why we have not found a need to join any.
Nowt to do about the costs.
We are new to Mhoming and up to date we have found the sites we have wanted and enjoyed, and strangely some have been these C sites.
Pleased you are enjoying them.

Then you're missing out, the CCC has some excellent Temporary Holiday Sites in some good locations, rarely more than £10-£15 a night.
To date we don't believe we have "missed out" on anything.

And i think i mentioned, a good number of the sites we have been on are indeed these CCCs CCs or whatever. We just don't don't benifit from the "discounts".
And i agree some, should say all the ones we have been on are absolutely fine.
Most do let non members on.

Just went to book Hillhead for 3 nights from 31st March and price per night is £55.30 (weekday prices are £32.50 for the same time). It's not school holidays so a total of £165.90 for 3 nights seems excessive. Looking at other sites can get the 3 nights with the same or better facilities for between £80 and £120. A pity because we have always liked Hillhead but not at those prices
we visit Torbay regularly and have done for about 30 yrs staying at Hillnead CMC site but with their hike in prices in recent years and also the constant noise of a whole variety of site preening tools we vowed never to stay there again.

Booked a week fully serviced with C&MC in MARCH! in Burford £253:40. Booked a week the end of June with Parkdean in Dorset fully serviced £246. Absolutely no point whatsoever in being a member of C&MC.
As for their booking app - I think my Burmese cat could have done better if she had put her mind to it 😁😁

RobinE .. also my biggest gripe with the clubs.. forcing you to pay for leccy wether or not you want it..
The CCC do indeed have non leccy pitchs but usually only VERY few a few selected sites and, as far as I am aware they are all grass pitchs...
You won't get hardstanding without leccy.

I've stayed at Burford often but take advantage of the welcome in the central carpark some very nice eateries

Yep, that's my only reason for keeping up my membership

Yes, there are still non hook up pitches on most of their sites 👍

The reason I and many others retain membership of both the clubs is for the CL/CS networks and in the case of CCC the THS. To give you an idea of how out of touch CAMC are is their recent foray into temporary sites at a mere £40+ a night.

All depends on what sort of travelling you do. We do about 4 months away a year and have immense FUN!!! But that's 120 nights. At £30 per night that's £3600 a year. It's a reasonable cost to question (for some anyway)

Stayed on a few CCC sites, often without EHU, even with, never paid £30 a night.

We're booked on the Oxford club site next month for three nights, no EHU £15 a night.

We're on a CAMC CL next week outside Exeter - full service water and EHU, drive over grey disposal for £20.
5 Pitches but have been told we are the only booking for the night

So, if you dont have solar panels, have only 1 x 100amh leisure battery, no inverter, no oven (but do have a fridge and gas hob and grill), how do you get through 3 days without EHU?
Is it in any way possible???

Absolutely yes!

My last van didnt have solar or an inverter and I could last 5 days without ehu - more if I went for a drive in between.

Unfortunately I can see the 2 clubs changing their pricing structure when the only people who can afford to stay on their sites are singletons.

For us solo travellers, they offer great value whereas commercial sites are priced assuming 2 people staying.
For me, as a solo traveller both CCC and CAMC sites are more often than not cheaper than independents. It’s rare I pay more than £25 a night, obviously with EHU. I have been looking at some really remote places where there are only independents, and it’s a lot more expensive if you are travelling alone, which is a shame. Although the temporary CAMC sites are much more expensive, and don’t charge single rates, which seems at odds with their usual pricing structure.

31st March is a Friday. It's the day that thousands of kids will break up for the Easter Holiday.

Two whole weeks of misery but at least there are adult only sites available....

That's why prices have gone up. It happens in every sector of the travel industry.

It's a PITA but it's sadly part of life.

By definition I get the impression that the two big Clubs have always been for CARAVANS . How many tuggers stop for one or two nights only.

I was averaging. Go to places like Bristol and Brighton, Chatsworth and you can pay nearly £50.

As for Oxford...

You'd be surprised. Motorhomes are a lot more popular nowadays and lots
of them use sites.

A lot! Particularly at weekend.

If you would like to visit Bristol or Bath join one of our Fun Rallies here at Woodside Field. Or visit our CL, we have 2 local pubs and close to M4. No need to be spending nearly £50 a night when you already have all your own facilities on board.

One was for Caravanners and Campers and the other just Caravans, of course these two clubs started before Motorhomes were anything like as popular as they are now, the Caravan Club have responded to this by adding Motorhome to their name to attract Motorhomes.

Actually they might have done a little bit more than that but basically the sites are still laid out as Caravan sites with pitches that are traditionally wider than they are deep and yes they think everybody needs/wants to plug in to their leccy, they are not the only ones with this attitude though by any means.

Caravans and Motorhomes are needing more and more power to operate as designers build in more and more 240v gizmo's, alongside this many Motorhomes are becoming more self sufficient with Solar, Lithium and inverters so there is a divide of those that always use sites and want power and those that are self sufficient and occasionally use sites so object to having to have the electric that was installed for the majority.

Camping and caravan club started out for tents, it is more inclusive for all types of camping, great for families if a mix of tent and motorhome, have always managed to get both together, very few CAMC sites have tent pitches and some stipulate cycle campers only, not even motorbikes. Their prices have gone up a lot, and new campers are not aware of pre shutdown rates, just compare with apartment costs and think 'this is cheap'

That’s certainly true for CMC (and remains so), but less so for CCC I think which I agree, also caters well for tents and has a big family following.

Now we all have choices one is to object, no one is forcing you to use the electric point but the person before and after you probably will so what’s the issue?

If you think it will be cheaper you may have to wait until electric meters are installed.

Those sites without electric may struggle in the future or will cost more when they install electric points to charge EV’s.
