CAMC retention

if wardens want to be rude then so be it,
Really?
I don't think I'm ever rude to people giving me a service, so I think I have a reasonable expectation that they should also be polite back.
It's not faulty towers.

I can never understand that, you are paying to rent the pitch, park which way you like.
Don't use sites very often but I just park how I want you don't get stupid rules abroad.
This obsession with parking a particular way round seems to just be the CAMC. Never found it on any other site, with one exception. This was on a French site, at something sur mer, even though miles from the sea. It was a sort of franchised CAMC site with appropriate flags and rules, mainly tuggers. Only stayed one night.

I like prefer it if they are polite, but I’m not going to let it get to me or reciprocate - their problem, not mine.

Well I've just been speaking to the warden on the C&MC site we're on and talk about being rude \ ignorant!:swear2:

We'd been blethering for about 20-30 minutes and his other half came on the blower (you know the intercommy thing they use) saying "where the h*ll are you your dinner's burnt!

The ignorant swine just turned to me and said "need to dash" when I was mid sentence as well!!!!!:swear2:

That's him off the Xmas card \ cake rota now!:swear2:

In Mevagissey tonight but having just read the posts checked prices at the nearest CAMC and CCC sites. 2adults O-60. 1 night stay CAMC Melrose £33.20. CCC Veryan £21.70 with ACR discount. Both near St Mawes. Makes the CAMC about 50% more expensive.

My village. Are you in the Willow Car Park? Last time I looked it was about £8 with water. Great stopover a few yards from the harbour, public toilets nearby. St Mawes is full of yuppies, there are some nice places to visit on the Roseland Peninsula including the lovely church and creek at St Just in Roseland,

CCC sites - you must have whole unit including awning on the gravel. Car can go on the grass. So not that much different to the CAMC.

I'm glad people are doing the survey, for us we will stay as members mainly for the CL site network. I'll only venture back onto the Club sites when the pricing is revised. From others photos and a customer of mine (a motorhome owner) who was on a Club site last week, he said it was so quiet, his kids were bored as there were no other similar age kids on site. We discussed the pricing and he's already booked a CL for the summer holidays. He did say they are terrible at booking sites as they usually leave it until late. As for this new club booking site and the relentless "discount " emails.... by adopting this new website/booking system and the new approach..... they have gone from a Club for members to a Travel Operator flogging Yurts, Pods and guided tours.... Mrs SG has a significant Birthday this year and both the daughters want to take her away at different times so our usual weeks away are curtailed. However, we discussed last evening that we will be heading across the channel in '24 rather than holiday here, apart from the odd CL weekends. We only have 2 night CAMC booking left as Mrs wants to visit Thirsk, so we are stopping off on the route home from a 5 day at a quaint CL site, other than those 2 nights.... Only CL's and CS's booked for us. I made this plain in my survey entries, a recent Social media chat with a staff member at the club, she claimed that the club were actively assessing feedback, comments and site bookings. We live in hope but I'll probably keep off Club sites for good. Safe Travels all

Does nobody in either club these days, join their local groups and go on local-ish rallies when nowt else further afield planned otherwise? Or don't local groups arrange rallies these days?

If you work for the camc your very well looked after pay pensions and training where they put you up in a hotel for a week etc all needs paying for . Not on my watch I’m afraid there done with me !!
So your saying people who work for them don't deserve pay and a pension and shouldn't get any training just so you can get cheaper camping?😒

ACR discount is for over 60's so you must compare like for like and do 0-60 for both clubs! We use the 30% grass pitch discount whenever possible, can get a pitch for less than a CL a lot of the time.

.Hope they listen soon. We used cmc sites a lot but not at their present prices
FYI. Deposit reduction just announced. What happens to those already booked and paid 20% \ £25?

Linky to the CAMC survey if anyone want's to fill it in and make your opinion known.... https://survey.alchemer.eu/s3/90561377/June-2023-Quick-Chat
Thanks for this just completed and told them why I have left. Interesting and typical of CAMC that on the final screen after you have submitted they state why they want this survey doing and ‘Customer service‘ comes last !

Don't forget Lamorran Gardens, they are very special and well worth the effort to visit.

This is becoming a farce 🤷‍♂️. Does complexity have to come with stupidity?
Think you could have excluded "becoming" to be closer to the mark!
Obviously feedback is majority don't like and didn't want deposits,
Think you could be correct but, in addition, delivers advanced cash flow benefits.
just pandering to a few whingers and now losing business and members.
We'll probably retain our membership as there's a few site we really enjoy but we've already moved c60% of our bookings away from them.

Now it all starts to make sense. If you spend a week learning peg placement you sure as hell are going to enforce it :giggler:

I have just looked at booking a night at Hurn Lane on my way home next week and it still wants a £20 deposit on a £21 booking 🤷‍♀️
and you're surprised!

When will the new low deposit promotion of 10%/£20 apply from?
The new low deposit terms applies to all bookings made from the 9 June to the 30 September 2023, for all available dates of travel.

Gave membership a try this year and won't be renewing - dreadful app and prices.
Example:

End of June (low season in the eyes of most commercial sites) and comparing equivalent pitches.

Hunters Moon, Wareham £268.10 for 7 nights.

Shrubbery, Lyme Regis £126 for 7 nights (low season offer) plus a deposit of £70 for electricity - unused units refunded.

I can understand prices CMHC being higher in winter when electricity usage is going to high but in summer?

Something is wrong at the top of this organisation to get this so wrong.

I filled in the online survey kindly linked earlier and have made my opinions very very clear.

Up to the Club's executives to take note and act fast to fix the bad stuff otherwise they won't get another penny from me in 2024.

Probably run by city types who live in the London bubble. Accountants. Windowless offices. Loads of degrees, exams, letters after their names but absolutely no common sense and no connection to their customers, and in this case their paymasters.
Hope someone gets the sack for screwing it all up. But I’m not holding my breath.

I think I have caught the CAMC out telling porkies.

When I was looking at sites to break my journey home, I was surprised that the Hurn Lane site had low availability, even midweek, so booked a night there and then just in case.

Curious, I looked at Looe where I have just come from. That is also indicating low availability. When I was there, there must have been well over 100 empty pitches.

Is this to encourage people to panic book, I wonder? 🤷‍♀️

Probably their useless computer system failing to manage the database properly
For example recording people browsing the site as "high demand" rather than actual bookings.
Or maybe it's looking at historical data ie this time of year has always been busy so there must be low availability this year.

But equally - saying "last few remaining" of any product is an oft used sales tactic.

Late last night looking for a couple of nights for Mon/Tues. Using CAMC website as they show availability and too late to phone others. Tried 5 sites, fully booked, found one with availability but she says "Not going to pay £41/night".
A frustrated hour later we reluctantly booked it for £41/night at Hawes CAMC site (low availability).

Recent experience tells me that there are many empty pitches on "full" CAMC sites.
