C&MC white posts

No, but a/ I'm a Warden, not an electrician or vehicle technician and B/ both parties eventually admitted that they suspected it was thier unit at fault.
edit = in both cases, the bollard WAS supplying power and when I went the extra mile and tested their leads, they were OK. Conclusion, internal faults.

I don't know if the 6m rule is a council, fire brigade, insurance or CMHC rule. I'm quite happy with it and have no issue with the rules on these sites, if I didn't like them, I wouldn't use them.

We store out van at CMHC storage site and we and something like 8 people including us have had to move pitch due to the van being near the static that the wardens live in. These spaces will be kept empty with a potential loss of revenue of about £5k per year so they must be serious about this.

The vans in storage obviously don't have people sleeping in them so they are close but the wardens are in the static so they are taking the hit.

Not sure why only now we've had to move but maybe they have a new safety director or something.

It comes from the fire brigade advice. Surrey fire and rescue were asked to advise the Club some years ago. Yes, it's caused some loss of revenue but who is the Club to argue with the experts? In all honesty, , I really believe that in a case like this, the Club believes that safety is FAR more important than money.

Hahahaha, those were the days. Probably do b*gger all good unless you caught it at the spark stage but you never know.

I'm still confused about this white post rule.

Again, if you want to talk about Aires, go start your own topic. We're talking about campsites. Different rules, different attitudes, as is apparent! Would I use an Aire? Yes, and have done in the winter on the way South. Would I cram myself in 2m apart, would I hell ! The Club is doing it's upmost to keep people safe. The VAST majority of people appreciate that, but there's always the risk takers who will quite happily argue till the cows come home. If that's their bag, fine go for it but dont force it on everyone else. A great many (most?) of us are quite happy with 6 meters.
This is not your thread and you cannot dictate what is discussed on it. In MHF often posts go off topic and you just have to live with it. I am afraid you are not in charge here.

Who cares!!!!!! we're talking about campsites. if you want to talk about carparks, go start your own topic!
If you're such a stickler for the rules, do you uphold the one that states that caravans must be at least 2 metres from any site road and barbeques should be remote from units and used in a designated, purpose designed area? I doubt it.

Are all units within 30 metres of a fire point? I know quite a few C&MC sites where they're not.

The Caravan Sites and Control of Development Act 1960, brought into law in 1959 (which is from where the 6 metre and other rules come from) was written for permanent residential units and those who use their caravan as a permanent residence.

Why can't they be like contental sites, you rent the pitch and you can park how you like on the pitch.
Not may experience in Bavaria and Austria pretty strict on how to park. But then again they may be the equivalent t the C&MC sites

BUCKET OF WATER: Approximately 12y ago on a THS near Plymouth a big dog under the “control” of 2 young children meets little dog with adult and child. Big dog seizes little one and starts shaking it. Adult shouts at kids and dog; kicks it in the ribs to no avail.

I ran 100 metres and emptied my water bucket over the big dog who let go in shock. The vets bill was over £1500.

Water isn’t just for fire control.

Golly what an argument, just read through abot 50% of the comments. Please all calm down. Personally being part of a family with young and exitable children plus a new puppy I find a lot of C&MH site customers make me feel uncomfortable and I prefer more casual sites. Love the freedom of sites in the New Forest or the site at Low Wray Bowness more to my liking.

You brought up the fire brigade advice as being the basis for the 6m rule.

I merely asked whether the same advice was given and acted upon by all CP operators. It seemed to be a reasonable question in order to find out whether campsites are on their own in this respect, or whether the other CP operators should be enforcing the same rules.

As for Janine's comment about not sleeping in a CP, if I owned a car and a vehicle caught fire and damaged my car I would not be pleased were I was sleeping in it or not. The rule seems to be to protect adjacent vehicles whether occupied or not.

As to the tone of your reply zaskar others have commented so I need to add no more.

Thank you for your like like L'Hobo. In fact I will be in Norfolk this summer in Thetford Forest at a C&Mhc site never been before but looks a little more chilled.

This was our most cramped night on a european tour - at an official site in munich. You can see the pitches marked out by the stones. I could shake hands with the neighbours without getting out of bed. However, I couldnt open the side locker as the door would hit their van. I guess their rules are different to the UK ones

The French seem to be a bit sniffy about which way to park , it's not my fault if their hab door is on the wrong side
