Scorched grass is from the petrol thrown to make sure it burnt wellThis is why you have the 6 metre rule. Old Hartley site a couple of years back. Look how far the grass has been scorched.

Interesting will be going later this year, from that photo we would need to park with our awning on the shady side hope we find a suitable pitch. Only 1 post at Knaresborough a few weeks ago and can't remember what colour the awning pitches are not that we pur ours up in the snow and gales, but it is sleeping accommodation for the grandkids, and me when we have the little one with us she sleeps in the van and i am in the awning with he brother. I quite like sleeping out there am tempted to take a camp bed with us when we go to spain, but it might be ditched for a spare wheel. Have a SIM but would struggle to get off that. Oops waffling again. We are away at Ferry Meadows club site, not sure if it only this site or a new club rule

All pitches here now have two posts
New rule you park between them (not literally)and you can go in front first or reverse they don’t mind

Yes, a feral crotch goblin crashed its bike into the back of my van when at Broadway last year. No apology from aforesaid crotch fruit and parents could not care lessI think the white posts are for Neanderthal parents to chain the kids up so they don't constantly run or cycle screaming around the site, or kick footballs which hit other peoples campers or just assemble around the amenity block to the annoyance of anyone who dares to try and use the facilities. Probably a result of my one and only visit to this hell hole of a site. To be fair it was summer holiday but I hadn't expected totally out of control children with parents who weren't much better.
Yes, when checking in they look to see and if it is a continental van then advise to park nose in, which we do most of the time. Never had a problem on the times that we do notI was recently told "pitch with the corner of your unit to the right side of the peg looking at the pitch and your door must be on the side furthest from the peg" so that meant we had to drive in forwardsthis ensured the correct spacing and privacy for us and our neighbours.
Wonder if they had spy cams set up to catch those not obeyingFor those who like their rules - in the showers on a site I was at had a sign over the basins showing the 12 stages of hand washing, not 11 or 13 but 12 so I hope some of you are religiously doing this for your safety or the wardens will be on your case..

No "tiggers" where we have just been MarkAnd another thing, where else are you going to get the enjoyment of watching a tigger trying to reverse on its pitch.
Keeps us entertained for a while![]()
True we don’t use cmc sites much, but we have never been told anything other than park to the peg, as in the leaflet we are always given. Sometimes we park nose in, sometimes nose out. Nose in helps us to be level on hard standings. But view might determine which way round we are.I was recently told "pitch with the corner of your unit to the right side of the peg looking at the pitch and your door must be on the side furthest from the peg" so that meant we had to drive in forwardsthis ensured the correct spacing and privacy for us and our neighbours.
White = awningcan't remember what colour the awning pitches
Grrr, predictive textNo "tiggers" where we have just been
The post are there for VERY good reasons, ensuring SAFE spacing between vans.
For the idiots who dont accept that, ask your local CAMC Warden (or contact head office) and ask them about the file the Club has showing photo's of van fires on site and IMHO, more importantly the damage to neighbouring vans who have either pitched too close themselves or had thier spacing encroached on.
I've seen 'em and it's BLOODY HORRIFYING".
It's begger all to do with 60's plywood vans, ALL vans go up in seconds given half a chance and the spacing enforced isn't some mythical figures dreamt up by "little hitlers", it's based on sound advice from the fire brigade which the Club has rightly acted on for our safety.
My site has been open just one week and already we've had 2 newish vans with major electrical faults.
Strangely enough, in both cases we've had the same empty excuse.............." it cant be my van it's just had a service, it must be your bollard!
If you dont like SAFE spacing, stay off Club sites, go find a wild camping spot, fire up your Google and search for Caravan fire Benidorm, then you might (tho I doubt it!) understand why we, unlike many continental sites, have spacing rules.
Make sure you have food and water. Getting off the island tomorrow will be fun.Grrr, predictive text
You don’t need to go far Martin, just loading up the van as we are off to Hayling for the day again tomorrow they give the temperature around 15-16 and more up to next weekend![]()
Been on and off more times than that for the last 50 yearsMake sure you have food and water. Getting off the island tomorrow will be fun.
As for parking between pegs. Don't think anywhere is says that it must be at right angles.
Who cares!!!!!! we're talking about campsites. if you want to talk about carparks, go start your own topic! So do the fire brigade give the same advice to CP operator, i.e. Councils, Supermarkets etc. all of which permit MHs LPG- powered cars, refrigerated vans and other fire risks to park without 6m clearance?
Or do the operators of those parking spaces ignore the advice?

Yes, very true. It always is really nice to see good reversing though. Inflatable awnings have taken a lot of fun out of watching people pitch up, thoughAnd another thing, where else are you going to get the enjoyment of watching a tigger trying to reverse on its pitch.

That is a bit rude, isn’t it…… Rule 1……Who cares!!!!!! we're talking about campsites. if you want to talk about carparks, go start your own topic!
Given the ridiculous nature of the question and the importance of the topic, I consider my answer and it's wording to be entirely justified.
Believe me there was no fresh air any where within the near vicinity, all you could smell was burnt remnants of a caravan and it's contents.Well, to take the positives out of it - look at the views you get, and all the fresh air you can handle!![]()
Not ridiculous at all, it's quite common to have only one or two metre spacing on Aires.Given the ridiculous nature of the question and the importance of the topic, I consider my answer and it's wording to be entirely justified.
... or cook in them. Or use hairdryers. Et cetera et cetera et cetera (said in a very strong Yul Brynner accent)People don’t tend to sleep in those vehicles![]()
