C&MC white posts

Sadly the introduction of parking between the posts covers:

Folks who have no idea which is the offside or nearside and are confused by drivers side when reversing.

Fail to understand that in line with the post doesn't mean somewhere on the same pitch; if possible.

It also means folks to park one or the other way don't have an issue with access to lockers, water/waste containers etc etc.

We are away at Ferry Meadows club site, not sure if it only this site or a new club rule

All pitches here now have two posts 😳

New rule you park between them (not literally) 🤔 and you can go in front first or reverse they don’t mind 😳👍😁
I think the white posts are for Neanderthal parents to chain the kids up so they don't constantly run or cycle screaming around the site, or kick footballs which hit other peoples campers or just assemble around the amenity block to the annoyance of anyone who dares to try and use the facilities. Probably a result of my one and only visit to this hell hole of a site. To be fair it was summer holiday but I hadn't expected totally out of control children with parents who weren't much better.

I am on site an a pvc has just arrived and out pops the parents to set up and 2 kids straight away of the van run run run and now the football is out. Like puppies that have been let out a few minutes of excessive energy and then calmness .it's a new van and they have just turned on the external lights wow one runs the full width of the whoosh bang and another the length of the sink unit. .it will Blackpool a run for its money and something else for the non pvc owners to whinge about .:Grin::roflmto::roflmto:

AAH so back in the () which sites did you run in to Us and the kids. On many sites we would start a cricket or footy game and within mins it seemed half the site kids would be joining in. Sometimes their parents did as well.

Great times.

I love the regimented attitude towards parking at CAMC sites! It means you don’t get some ignorant muppet parking right next to you. I’m certainly not wanting my van going up in flames when the one next to me catches fire. I like my personal space and will defend it with vigour! :giggle: I don’t care if that upsets some people, they shouldn’t be so obnoxious in the first place.(y)

I hope they realise how environmentally unsound this is, two posts?
Double the number of posts in all their sites . Hope the Greenies dont find out.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I like your sentiments but when traveling in France it's often the case that you park on an Aire and go for a walk to find on your return another van has arrived and there's just enough space to open the hab door. I'm not aware of a fire anywhere. 😁

The post are there for VERY good reasons, ensuring SAFE spacing between vans.
For the idiots who dont accept that, ask your local CAMC Warden (or contact head office) and ask them about the file the Club has showing photo's of van fires on site and IMHO, more importantly the damage to neighbouring vans who have either pitched too close themselves or had thier spacing encroached on.
I've seen 'em and it's BLOODY HORRIFYING".
It's begger all to do with 60's plywood vans, ALL vans go up in seconds given half a chance and the spacing enforced isn't some mythical figures dreamt up by "little hitlers", it's based on sound advice from the fire brigade which the Club has rightly acted on for our safety.
My site has been open just one week and already we've had 2 newish vans with major electrical faults.
Strangely enough, in both cases we've had the same empty excuse.............." it cant be my van it's just had a service, it must be your bollard!
If you dont like SAFE spacing, stay off Club sites, go find a wild camping spot, fire up your Google and search for Caravan fire Benidorm, then you might (tho I doubt it!) understand why we, unlike many continental sites, have spacing rules.

As far as I can see as long as you have the required safety gap what difference if you park nose in or nose out? There will always be enough distance to next door for a decent level of privacy too. Also, when we are not erecting an awning we park in the middle of the pitch so we can face the ‘wrong” way with a bit more distance.

There is no difference. The white pegs are nothing what so ever to do with which way you park, its about correct spacing.
The old "you must reverse in" came from old time caravanning days where it was said that you must be able to tow your caravan out of pitch if next door was on fire. These days, the advise is "walk away and let the fire brigade do their job".
There is no CAMC rule that says you MUST reverse into pitch.
The rule is VERY simple, 6 meters between van side walls and 3 meters corner to corner. It's not rocker science. The rule states.......
"you may pitch your van anyway you choose PROVIDING you maintain spacing and SUBJECT to the site Wardens approval."

So, for instance, if I get a tag axle Burstner (eg) who wants to pitch sideways so his door/awning faces the sun, then generally, the answer is no because the fire spacing regs would be compromised due to van length. There are, of course, exceptions to that rule where the Wardens common sense should come into play, ie the pitch is 1 on it's own with no other vans in that area or the pitch is the one on the end of the row where there is no next door vans spacing to encroach on.

2nd example. A tiny Romahome or an Eriba turns up. I cant think of 1 pitch on my site where I couldn't allow them to pitch sideways. My only difficulty is when the guy in the monster Morrello decides he wants to do the same and I have to speend 1/2 a stressed hour explaining to him WHY I cant allow him.

Surely this is going to increase the time it will take some campers to park up - with having twice as many pegs to MOVE🤫

I was recently told "pitch with the corner of your unit to the right side of the peg looking at the pitch and your door must be on the side furthest from the peg" so that meant we had to drive in forwards;) this ensured the correct spacing and privacy for us and our neighbours.

AFAIAA, after 13 years in the job, there is no rule that says your door MUST be on a certain side. Granted, most folks prefer it from a privacy point of veiw but ther is no rule that says you MUST. .
SPACING is the rule

zaskar says there is no CMC rule. He seems to know. So as far as I am concerned I will park safely whichever way is the best view. We also like to have the bedroom at the back.

If there is no rule the wardens can’t insist other than on safety.

Correct, but PLEASE, dont go in all guns blazing, just politely ask the Warden to show you the rule where its says either you MUST reverse in or your door MUST be on a certain side, and please, bearing mind (in fairness to my colleauges) there MAY be sound reason why he/she has to say no but "cos I dont like it" doesn't hack it these days. There's still a couple of em about but generally, you find we like to be as helpful as poss.

We were on a grass pitch at a C&MC site, when we arrived the tugger on the next pitch had parked his car (and wasn't in) so far over that we had not got enough room to put our Quest gazebo, so we put the correct corner of our van about 18 inches to the side. Explained to the warden when he did his rounds and as we were on the end of the row he simply lifted the post and aligned it with our van corner.

I swear I must be in a parallel universe. I have been using both clubs for god knows how many years and I haven’t met any of the staff/guest horrors mentioned in this type of thread. How much nicer in this parallel universe.
I’m with you 100% on this one and am convinced that people who knock club sites have never actually stayed on one. I have never met anything other than really nice and helpful wardens. The rules are there for a reason.

Some go the extra mile. Good on them.

My Flabber is Gasted, So many negative comments concerning the Caravan & Motorhome Club

Until today, I thought their name and practices were sacrosanct on any Funster thread, perhaps there hope for the CC Club after all?

PS. I belong to both and the C&MH club sent out a letter, some time ago, in answer to a members query about direction of parking and it stated,

'Motorhome can park in either direction as long as it is within the pitch but discretion should be shown'...

I still carry it in the van, just in case. :giggle: (y)

This is why you have the 6 metre rule. Old Hartley site a couple of years back. Look how far the grass has been scorched.
