Bye Bye CAMC

Scumbags . Thank you for posting this . The CAMC don’t look after their staff and therefore these instances will continue to occur .We will not be renewing our membership to either club this year . The Funster rallies and private sites are the route we will take . That said , the more Lenny HB posts his travel blogs, the more temptation I have to just go over to France and Spain and see what happens. I have lost all interest in being a member of a U.K. club .
Scumbags seems a little strong considering you only have the OPs side of the arguement

According to the Facebook forum where this was posted over the weekend this guy arrived on site at 21.05 over an hour after the Wardens clocked off for the night....... and he wonders why they would be off with him???????

I think I got it the first time 🤔😂

which is not the case in most 2/4 person staffed CAMC sites.
For the prices being charged I'd be looking for 20 staff and the van washed and polished daily.
Its

Come to light on the Facebook forum where this was also posted that the reason that the Wardens were off with him was that he rocked up on site at 9.05 at night, over an hour after the site shut and the Wardens finished work....... there's always 2 sides to a story......

Doesn't VERY late mean2 or 3 hours? Which is what they were told by the friends on site and also by the person themselves ringing.

Never really used the big cmc site, tried burrs country park for visiting manchester but it worked out cheaper to use a hotel so never used again.

CMC pegs, don’t get me started. Also overpriced, over officious.

We've found that today's site managers on the CAMC aren't officious at all, just hardworking, nice people.

The vast majority are, but some, unfortunately, need recalibrating.

Ian
In many years of being members, we have found any that need anything.

Which probably makes them representative of the population at large from whom they are chosen. Even perhaps of Fun members.

Those employed in the hospitality/service sector are in a quite different population from those who seek to avail themselves of that offering and should not require recalibration.

Those who do not meet the requisite standards for customer service should be taken to task by their employer. However, in the case of this organisation (see @Jaws’ post above) it seems that such corrective actions are not even on their radar.

In the interest of balance, here’s what a CAMC rep posted on another forum when reference had been made to this thread.

Comment from the Club

Further to your post, we have been in contact with our site team who explained that they had been advised that there would be an arrival on site approximately 7.45pm - 8.00pm, unfortunately by 8.30pm the members to which are referred to n the Motorhome Fun discussion had not arrived and a courtesy call was made to them, to which they received no answer. When the friends arrived at 9.10pm it was explained to them that unfortunately they could not go onto site due to the lateness of their arrival and even though the site does not have a late night arrivals area, they were found a place to park for the night with full access to the facilities. At no time were they told they would have to wait until 1.00pm to check in the following day and were checked in soon after the office was open the following morning.

Unfortunately, we appreciate that members are late arriving on site, however we do have to consider the disturbance it would cause others staying and affecting their comfort and convenience.

Are they saying that you cannot come back to the site after 8pm if you have been out for the day in your MoHo? If not what is is the difference between a returning checked in person and a new arrival other than having to check them in or tell them their pitch number and complete check in in the morning.

Remember the "C" in CAMC stands for caravan...
There is a marked differance between a motorhome returning/setting up to a caravan setting up site... especially in the dark.

I can understand that, but if you are in a MoHo surely the staff can understand that, the rules may need to amended to give some latitude instead of one size fits all. Not sure why 8pm is the fixed time other than allowing the staff to finish for the day, it is not due to noise or inconvenience as the CMC rules state

4. Noise

a. Be mindful of the noise levels on your pitch at all times, ensuring in particular that you do not disturb other guests after 10pm.

b. Please think of others and keep musical instruments, radios, televisions and so on at a considerate noise level. Generators should also be used with consideration for others, so please don’t operate them between 6pm and 9am.

Spot on ! Absolutely perfectly put.
The camc never cease to amaze me when they deal with this kind of “ public shaming”
They are happy to call their customers liars and can’t even see how ridiculously contradictory the statements they make actually are ! 😂😂😂

Can never understand that, you rent a pitch park how you like that's what we do on the rare occasion we use a site.
That is exactly the kind of attitude that tests the patience of site owners or employees trying to apply the rules of their employers.

As long as you're 6m apart I don't see why they would care, unless they just enjoy it. Some people like a fuss.

The difference is a checked in motorhome/car returning after a day out goes straight to it's pitch, the other involves the wardens having to break into their evening, opening the office and going through the check in procedures. It may take "only" five minutes, ten minutes but it eats into their off duty time when they could be in the middle of a late meal or anything else during what should be their own time.

We attended the Blackpool temporary site last year, when Adolf was waving his arms about showing us where to pitch, I manoeuvred to reverse in.
😳 He went bonkers, shouting and gesticulating, EVERYONE HAS TO PITCH FACING THE SAME WAY! COVID RULES! he shouted.
I though for God's sake we're 6 metres away from the next van and we wanted to face our friends van next door, 5 minutes later we were in their van drinking tea anyway 😁

I can understand the 6m rule, though if their sites wernt so crowded it wouldnt be a problem. The business with the famous peg is just annoying though. I no longer would stay on a club site and feel its up to me how I park on a pitch, often with a nicely hedged one I park across the entrance, giving a semi private back garden for my chairs etc and the dogs, without having to look at any neighbours.

Adolf it a popular name all of a sudden.
If you don't like the rules of the place don't come in. Simple.

and potentially quite a derogatory term given it's historical connotations.:(

Wonder what would be said if Funsters started using that term for each other?:swear2:

But the camc statement mentioned that the reason they wouldn’t allow the customer in was because this could disturb other campers on the site . Forgetting the wardens for a minute and concentrating on this point , don’t you think it’s an strange thing to say ? How would a new arrival in a motorhome be any different to one arriving back on site from a day out ?
