Avro energy collapsed

It’s the direct debit I’m not sure of
is it going into a black hole so to speak
do you cancel it or let it roll
keeping bank statements to record payments

just wondering :Eeek::whistle2::blush:

Too many little intermediary companies trying to milk the Market for a quick buck. The small guys new what they were getting into.
The difference is that the big guys have also hedged their prices in the market and thus have a better degree of protection over and above the financial reserves behind them.

i have wondered the same so just cancelled mine.

the new company will need a new approval the bank will not transfer a DD

they can chase me if its a problem, as we were only a few £'s in credit.

Ooh youve got me wondering now.
should i cancel my direct debit 🤷‍♀️

I was with Green Network Energy who went bust in January and I was passed on to EDF.
I have just completed a switch from EDF to Shell on a three year fixed deal , phew just in time.
I too am with Shell energy on a fixed rate tariff until march next year! They only have 3% of the market so I hope they are not one of the smaller company's in jepordy.

Avro are based in Hinckley a friend of ours weeks for them, she said weeks ago there were rumours, but not specifically relating to the current increase in wholesale prices, often had suspended their licence Bd stopped them taking new customers.

Ooh youve got me wondering now.
should i cancel my direct debit 🤷‍♀️
I took the view that if I owed Avro any money, then if I agreed with it, I will pay them.
I would rather have it that way then have money in the form of a credit, sitting in a defunct company with some uncertainty as to whether it would be repaid to me. Better in my pocket than theirs.
I cancelled my direct debit as soon as the news that Avro had ceased trading was made public.

When it suits Green goes out of the window, DRAX back in power production.
We are on the cusp of a major energy crisis with no or little European support.
Perhaps the USA or Australia will plug the gap.
Beware of the price of energy will spiral, you do not need me to tell you what is becoming obvious.
Our taxes supporting CO2 production, more to come out way very soon.
Plug your car in be Green

All they do is automatically inform the company of meter readings and have nothing to do with the supply connection.
You might be surprised. All electric smart meters here in spain have the ability to turn your supply on and off. they can also regulate the supply, increase or decrease the amount of power supplied & have the ability to inform you of the amount of power you have used in each of the 3charging periods .low/med/high.

This is a world wide problem. Europe are in the same boat!

All these different energy suppliers, but only 1 pipe supplying gas and 1 cable supplying electricity per street, etc, so how do they know whose gas / electric we are using ??
Also a lot of electricity suppliers claim to be supplying 100% renewable energy, it is all renewable, it is how it is renewed which is important, i assume they mean generated by wind or solar !!, but once again how do they ensure that they are only supplying it via the same cable network as every other supplier ??
Just pondering, as I am bored ! :giggle:
Your right ! I read an article a few weeks ago about this very subject. The lecce comes from the national grid and is supplied by a mixture of different electrical supplies and it all goes into the big melting pot so to speak. Its just marketing hype to attract certain customers.

Sorry to contradict you, but that isnt correct.
You will be placed on the new companies variable rate, which in these times will be considerably dearer then the rate you have left.
Not with me got same rate with SE but did try to get me on other rates through offers .

And to provide an additional level of profits to be made for the intermediary supplier who just buys from the generating company and sells it on. All with the blessing of the government, who are supposed to have the people's interests protected !!

They display the same logo as Shell fuel so I assume the same parent company and I don’t think they are liable to go under.

But not the case in the UK

Same here, unfortunately we weren't quick enough to be able to get statements etc so don't know what our balance was but I'm sure it will be in credit so no point in paying them yet another load of dosh! As Mum's with Avro too I've cancelled her DD as she'll also be in credit ... could be fun for the new supplier though as the only contact number they'll have for her will be her landline which I cancelled 2 weeks ago! At least once the new provider contacts me I'll know who'll be taking hers over too so can hopefully get it sorted at the same time.

I'd already been trying to find a supplier without a standing charge for my Mum seeing as she's now in a care home so minimal energy use at her flat thus paying a daily standing charge is annoying for the sake of it, unfortunately I can't find any tariffs which don't have a standing charge now. What is annoying especially when trying to compare tariffs is that the charges for each supplier vary wildly between 18p and 43p per day per energy, so 30 days can be anywhere from £5.40 x 2 = £10.80 to £12.90 x 2 = £25.80, a difference of £15.00 a month!

Don’t be so sure….

From your link,
  • A new sort of smart meter would need to be installed in every home in the UK
And how many years will it take to do that, go through all the discussions and arguments and then fit them to every household in the country.

When my supplier collapsed in January a new direct debit to the new supplier just appeared on my internet banking, how that works I really don’t know but it did.

PS. That was the first I knew that my supplier had gone under.

The new supplier of utilities can just take over the direct debit, it dont matter who they are or what bank they have...your direct debit is still current and payable to the new utility company
They only have to contact you if the direct debit amount changes

My partner was with utility point which went under last week and is being transferred to edf which will be fun as she was with edf a few years back and she had to take them to court 🤦‍♂️🤣🤣🤣

Hope they don't put us with Shell energy formerly First utility. Had 8 years of grief with them . 5 of them after I left.
Ones worst nightmare!

I've just tried logging into my Bulb account and the website isn't available

Bulb have been in trouble for months but I dont think (hope) the government can let them go under, might cause a domino effect on the other big companies

All of a sudden the cost of calor ain't so bad 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I've gotta say I love the Bulb unicorn adverts!
