Are you still going away?

Those rates were as of early march, which had almost doubled since the end of January, the rate seems to be increasing as well, possibly now it has but the west with a more elderly population.

Was supposed to fly to Texas on Friday, intended to cancel and possibly take the financial hit. Fortunately Donald Trump has done me a favour and stopped all flights from UK, should get a full refund. Never thought I’d say it but thanks Mr Trump

Was going to spain or portugal after Easter but looks like we will stay in the uk now. ??

I must be a fool then as we head off on holiday this Tuesday visiting Thailand, Singapore, Australia and Dubai. This is our 30 day holiday for our 30th Anniversary and so far or experts haven’t advised against travelling to these countries and the flights are still on, If you add up all their cases it’s less than here.

Our choices are go on holiday enjoy ourselves and as we’re relatively young and fit we should be okay, or stay at home and lose all the money and still have the same chances of catching it.

As soon as the experts tell us it’s not safe or cancel all flights we not go, until then we’re all packed and ready for the off.

We might be fools but we’ll be happy fools

If the advice is still to go and you are all paid up then yes I agree I would go too. Singapore is fabulous- hope you have a great time and Coronavirus doesn’t effect you too much.

And France has gone, au revoir until next season :(

We're meant to be going to France for Easter but looks like that's off now :frowny:

Looks like this year will be a write off, really can't be bothered having to book up in advance for the UK, only to be 5 miles out of town. Anyone want some Eurotunnel frequent traveler tickets?

My son is in Australia, and quantas won't let him book a flight for June at the moment.

Am going to go hide around Scotland for ten days. A wee dram or two should ward things off.

I had booked a week at Devizes club site. For 23rd March, but because I suffer from COPD I have cancelled. However still booked ferry to Caen on 25th April in the hope things will have eased a bit by then...

Our month-long trip to India was cancelled on Thursday when the Indian Government cancelled all travel visas. This was just 12-hours before we were due to fly out. C'est la vie. Now begins the long and painful process of phoning 0800 numbers and listening to musack as we try to get refunds on flights, hotels, trains, car rentals, etc. Some have been remarkably quick to refund, including Singapore Airlines and Intrepid Travel.
Thank goodness for the motorhome. We will self-isolate willingly for two weeks, even though we don't have to.

Looks like our trip will be cancelled also as Australia has just implemented a 14 day self isolation for international travellers.
Will speak to travel agents today

Sad but not much of a holiday . Daughter lives in Melbourne and am sure if you were visiting there you wouldn’t see it at its best .
Another time to look forward and as they often they say anticipation is as good as the holiday so you can do that bit twice :-)

Keswick at Easter Norfolk Broads June/July Dorset Aug/Sept and Chester Nov, unless advised against travel by club sites or government.

3 weeks ? doubt it,,,Think any foreign travel will be out of the question for a few months,,What a bummer,,,May not be possible in UK..BUSBY.
Don't think you read the post correctly. We are due in Spain end of July for a three week holiday.

Hopefully by the end of July it will be over otherwise the world will have a whole load more shit to worry about than me getting my holiday or not. If I have to spend 3 weeks sitting in my garden in my pants then so be it

The death rate will rise dramatically when the NHS runs out of beds and respirators which will probably happen within a couple of weeks.

I don't think that will happen.

Hancock said this morning that all non-essential operations would be cancelled and therefore the beds free'd up. So no NHS boob-jobs, Gender re-assignment, hair lip, cleft palette etc.

I used to work for a company in Milton Keynes that makes test equipment for cigarettes, I am 100% sure that if they were given the design documentation for a respirator, they could ramp up production within a week or so, you will would be very surprised at what this country can manufacture very rapidly if required.

The whole of the NHS has only 5000 icu beds and respirators.

I have been told that each ventilator requires the equivalent of 5 nurses to operate it safely, 24/7. Many nurses do not wish to accept the responsibility which this entails.

How to phrase this without being accused of politicizing the problem?

Boris promised to recruit the extra 50 000 nurses of which we were already short before the election, "possibly" as a result of "prudent" financial actions over the last 10 years. Will any of these be available by the time UK manufacturers are delivering the new ventilators?

Trump is being accused of trying to buy a German pharmaceutical company which may have a vaccine available "soon" and keeping their product exclusively for US usage.

By leaving the EU and its organisations, including European Medicines Agency, we will not have direct access to their testing and validation regime so any vaccine manufacturer will have to decide whether to prioritize getting their product through EMA tests (500 Million potential customers) or through UK tests (70 Million potential customers), once a UK testing authority has been set up.

We came back from holiday early and will be staying in splendid isolation for however long it takes and hoping that neither of us gets CV, as we are both "almost" 70y old and both have underlying medical problems. No-one is welcome to camp on our drive!

But that is what the UK voted for, that and blue passports.

We were due to fly to an island off Croatia for two weeks to celebrate my wife’s retirement in July and I was paying for our children to join us but it is too much money to gamble and if there are any restrictions what’s the point. I was due to pay the balance off next month and I have spoken to TUI who will allow the deposits to go on future holidays for an admin fee. So I’ve booked a 9 bedroom house in Devon and invited friends and family instead.
Our friends were due to fly to India yesterday as their daughter who is in medical training is out there for 3 months helping in the villages but the areas they had booked separately to visit are all locked down. As the airport and area they were due to fly from is open and receiving flights they can’t claim insurance and they estimate they have lost 10.5 k
Our friends were due to go to australia beginning of april. BA have let them move the flights on a year.

Then they need to step up and take responsibility.

Sorry. I'm not buying EMA crap. I used to work in Pharma and they are useless, never validated anything until the FDA (USA) had done their initial validation process.

Useless organisation that, yes does vital work but is about as efficient as a 2 stroke engine.
