Are you still going away?

Just made the decision to cancel our (non-MH) visit to Keukenhof flower display and parade in Netherlands in April. Everything refundable except grandstand tickets for parade. Very disappointed, have to wait until next year now.

Any one who ventures from our shores for the sake of a holiday at this time is a fool in many country's you will not be welcome.
I fell for the many stuck on the continent and further afield stay safe and well

We were going to Ireland for a couple of months then to Norway for three months. We've put both trips on hold.

I don't fancy being ill miles from anywhere in Norway or, for that matter, in Ireland!

Definitely.
Roll on the 4th April, the likelihood of catching it in Normandy/Brittany is very remote and it's not even likely to be serious if we do - no more than a dose of flu - Stay in bed and keep warm, it's not treatable - just like a cold.

Thought all the people that thought that this was just normal flu had removed their blind folds ;)

We are leaving our house in France tomorrow (Sunday) morning. I have brought our tunnel booking forward to Tuesday, hoping that they will let us out of the country. I don’t want to drive 450 miles only to find we have to come back.

Was due to take wife on a surprise weekend to Vienna this coming Friday but once RyanAir waived the change fee, I told Mrs the score and we binned it until September.

Have Ferry and 3 weeks in Spain booked for end of July so hopefully it will be over by then. If not I'll get most if not all refunded and stay in the UK possibly having a 2 week and then a further week instead of three in one go.
3 weeks ? doubt it,,,Think any foreign travel will be out of the question for a few months,,What a bummer,,,May not be possible in UK..BUSBY.

We are booked to travel to Canada in July for a week and then a week arctic cruise. Government just announced it restrict flights into Canada from Europe and will ban cruise ships with 500 or more people from docking in country’s ports until 1st July (we were flying into Calgary and boarding ship in Vancouver)

We have only paid the deposit at the moment but looks like it might not be going ahead, we are waiting to the final day for full payment as things seem to be changing by the hour never mind by the day!

I must be a fool then as we head off on holiday this Tuesday visiting Thailand, Singapore, Australia and Dubai. This is our 30 day holiday for our 30th Anniversary and so far or experts haven’t advised against travelling to these countries and the flights are still on, If you add up all their cases it’s less than here.

Our choices are go on holiday enjoy ourselves and as we’re relatively young and fit we should be okay, or stay at home and lose all the money and still have the same chances of catching it.

As soon as the experts tell us it’s not safe or cancel all flights we not go, until then we’re all packed and ready for the off.

We might be fools but we’ll be happy fools

Channel tunnel booked for mid May ?. Hopefully, unless there are major restrictions (and elderly family health permits) we will still go.

We are at the moment self isolating in our camper but still travelling around got some funny looks from Sainsbury's littlehampton we asked for home delivery when they asked for delivery address I said your car park come out your front doors turn left 25 yards in front of you just leave it by our side door :giggle: now parked by a country lake miles from anyone (y)

Yes watching it very closely and if you read my post I’m not travelling to any countries that have banned flights, as Europe seems to be worse the further away the better

It appears you are more likely to die from a bout of flu than this virus - even if you catch it.
Three in one hundred seems to be the latest figure. Its 2.1% worldwide

The A and B plan is for Vercors region 22/4 or if the weather isnt hot enough then Dordogne.

We have campsites identified with full facilities and both have enormous spaces for your actual pitch.

The Vercors region will be favourite as it will be empty (The resistance hid from the Germans here) but we have to able to get there.

Should we not be able to get there then C Plan UK is going to be done but on campsite with space. Cornwall would be ideal but that might be busy.

If UK travel is not possible then i will be cancelling my leave and raking in the money and trying to dodge the virus.

Except it isn't just like a cold
The severe symptoms don't appear quickly and you find that breathing is difficult anything upto 75% of lungs can be affected and it causes fibrosis of the lungs basically stopping them working and cold or flu does not do that
The biggest problem is it doesn't show up on tests until you develop the symptoms - DRY cough, fever, shortness of breath are the BASIC ones but as said elsewhere the mortality is 2.1 - 2.6% but thats cold comfort to the ones who get it bad

Lucky you! I am in an age group where the fatality rate has been 10.3% and I have underlying health problems that probably doubles that

The centres for disease prevention and protection might disagree with you as they say that Flu death rate (by my calculations) is 0.1%

Not sure where those figures come from? From the official figures it seems to be 7% if you add the deaths and recovered figures together, it is about 78,000 cases with about 5,700 deaths. Those figures are across the whole population, if you're young and healthy, you will probably be ok, for most of us on here, It will be far higher, I have respiratory problems, so for me I expect it will be 50/50.
Countries are not going into lockdown with the severe economic and social implications for something no more severe than common flu. I have heard the army have been issued with ration packs on the expectation that we will be locked down imminently.

Please take this seriously, and if you have elderly relatives be very careful.

There will be a point in the next 5 or 6 weeks where the virus will be so widespread that there will be no travel restriction in the UK as your viral 'contribution' won't make things any worse ...... unfortunately
