Are CAMC finally getting the message

We are off to a Haven site soon. Cheap deal. We are going for the pool. Otherwise far too big. We are very unlikely to use any of the other facilities.
Me also. I only use the pool/sauna/steam box if available.
This week £28.50 Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, WITH EHU.
I passed the "Tropicano Sun Lounge " on my bike heading out at 09.30. The bingo was in full swing, but I gave it a miss.

Plus pension pot top ups for the boys and girls on the top rung. Exactly the same as most local councils.
Don't have the pension contribution figures with me so can't comment.

Can comment on being on 6 sites in 18 month period where they were installing drive over grey dumps (first name terms with the guys who were doing the work as they were all the same team!) and on 2 newly purchased sites.

We stopped at HurnLane CAMC site to break our journey to Devon. I wasn’t surprised to see it almost empty and what was there were caravans. The sites in Devon all had signs out saying vacancy.

Enough folk voting at the AGM could change the situation but apathy probably rules!
Or, perhaps, the majority of members are relaxed about the direction the entity is going?
Voting on what at the AGM? Votes for council members apparently go uncounted if not votes in favour. Otherwise you ask questions in writing which get answered afterwards (these can sometimes be quite interesting)

Do you have proof of this?

Is there a process for tabling questions for the AGM?

It would be if they weren't all either cancelled or booked up. Think I was able to get to 2 this year. My membership has just lapsed so I'll save some money until they get them sorted 💰👌
Not sure I understand this! THSs and DA meets are mainly not bookable unless the venues are small.

I understand that the CAMC are reporting in the minutes that in last year's council elections the results were unanimously in favour. Someone on the CAMC forum reported that they knew that was the case - presumably because of how they had voted. I also voted against those standing. From the forum at the time, so did others. At the AGM itself they took a vote which was declared unanimous - i watched that on zoom. So it doesnt look as though they counted the electronic votes.
AGM questions - there is or will be a form on the CAMC site to fill in for questions.

I know some don't mention booking but the ones I go to must be popular, it says either "booking advisable" or "booking essential" on the out and about app.

Wrong club, THSs' and DA are associated with the Camping and Caravan Club, this thread is about the other one, The Caravan and Motorhome Club.

Certainly not my experience this weekend which will be the last time I use them. The warden behaved more like a headmistress and had no interest when the premium WiFi didn't work after it had taken my money. IMHO they have got worse not better. So my 27 years of membership will end at renewal time. Sadly they won't give a monkeys.

I let my membership lapse after 12 years because of the pitch prices. I had become lazy using 90% CAMC sites, leaving has made me look for other privately owned sites and use more CCC sites and I have found some cracking sites and stop overs in the UK.

We did not renew our CAMC membership and have not looked back, there are so many good indie sites which are less regimented, friendlier and better value.

Maybe just our experience but we found some of the CAMC wardens to be officious and pedantic... give a man a clipboard and all that. Maybe I just have a problem with authority 🤔.

Not been CAMC members for several years now and we only miss it for one particular CL site!

According to their AGM and finance reports published in the most recent magazine they are not getting the message. Bookings are down but they still made a surplus of about £5 million if I read it right.

Membership is at an all time high
so the leavers are being replaced
by new members .
Good luck to them all . I left both of the so called ‘Clubs ‘ two years ago and to be honest haven’t missed them one bit plus I’m £100+ better off.I still get the magazine delivered FOC though for some reason.

Not my experience in over 25 years of membership and over 100 different sites
I can only think of one stand-offish site manager I’ve met over the years
Once on site I have no need to interact with any CAMC employees I just keep myself to myself and am mindful of others and abide by the rules

Spent Christmas at Cirencester last year, most expensive site I have ever been on, chatted to wardens about price and was told how lucky I was being a CAMC member as it would have been £12 a day extra, so its over the channel for us as much as possible or 90 day allow. Only renewed as get discount on MH insurance.
When I renewed my insurance they asked if I was a club member, I said yes but they didn’t ask which club I was a member of, so I used my motorhome fun membership.

I have never had a problem with wardens - maybe buying them cakes helps 😀

Just received this email from CAMC with reduction to deposit and 20% off a variety of sites during midweek.
All during the peak period .
Maybe with all the noise about their fees and perhaps people voting with their feet theyve had to react?

Just about to go to the Cotswolds and thought we would stay at the site in Morton on the Marsh. They want £40 a night in October! Tried another of their sites in Derbyshire in Chatsworth and it's £48 a night! Somehow I don't think the message has got through.

As the saying goes: "It is not the people who vote that count, it is the people who count the votes." (misattributed to Stalin)

Apart from that, I haven't checked the Standing Orders or whatever rules apply to this pseudo-Members' Club, but the typical problem is the power of the Chairman to use a large number of proxies in whatever way he chooses in his absolute discretion, to swing the result his way.

Been a member for 20 years but no longer crazy prices these days I forgot to renew my subs and had a email saying that I had a few days to make my payment or that would be it no reminders would be sent and my membership would be cancelled.

So with that sort of attitude I opted to.keep my money and spend it on the other side of the channel
Same here, must be the worst marketing email ever!

They say pitch occupancy was "only" 1.5% down.

I thought that the purpose of the new booking deposit system was to prevent late cancellations and resulting unoccupied pitches.

That doesn't appear to have been a roaring success.

Yes - the ones who used to be at Warwick Racecourse site liked the cakes we bought them from the Portuguese cafe (Pastelaria Portuguese, Coton End, Warwick) when we stayed there…..:tounge::tounge:

This has been our approach as well. Crazy prices!
