Are CAMC finally getting the message

Just about to go to the Cotswolds and thought we would stay at the site in Morton on the Marsh. They want £40 a night in October! Tried another of their sites in Derbyshire in Chatsworth and it's £48 a night! Somehow I don't think the message has got through.
They pioneered the £40+ pitch, and have played a huge role in inflating prices generally. Quite a achievement for a ‘club’.

Joined in 2013 when we began motorhoming but have not used one of their sites in seven years as all of our trips are now in Europe. Mainly keep the subscription going because of the discounted LeShuttle prices they just about recoup the annual subs. The magazine is a joke in my opinion, still heavily biased towards caravans and their editorials are pathetic, so bland, it is as if the editor is frightened to make any controversial comment.

It would be if they weren't all either cancelled or booked up. Think I was able to get to 2 this year. My membership has just lapsed so I'll save some money until they get them sorted 💰👌
We never have a problem, and always use them on the day or if in the area, never plan, and always had space.

Having been exclusively a CAMC member for nearly 50 years because I found the CCC more family oriented and having no desire to spend my leisure time with other peoples unruly kids playing ball around my Motorhome, I used CAMC which then exercised more control and we used Adults only sites in school hols. However with the steep increase in prices, we’ve joined CCC to take advantage of its discount for over 65’s and its range of other discounts. We’ve generally saved £7-£10 per night over the summer so a good move and as a general rule the wardens are more friendly. However there are not so many “service points”, often only one, and the recycling and waste are often only at the entrance to the site so you need to be a reasonably fit 65+ though you can make a “special request” when booking, for your needs. There is one major drawback with the CCC and that is that if you Motorhome all year round there are very few CCC sites open from beginning of November to end of March. Then you’ll need CAMC. In my opinion if you lay up over winter and are over 65 then the CCC is a much better bet

Am I the only one that finds CAMC reasonable value for money? Just asking like.....
value for money? you must still working in a well paid job, or you were very lucky with one of those well paid end of final salary pensions?

Not sure I understand this! THSs and DA meets are mainly not bookable unless the venues are small.
The pop up at Beauly motor museum was CAMC and definitely needed to book and it’s a big one !

Just received this email from CAMC with reduction to deposit and 20% off a variety of sites during midweek.
All during the peak period .
Maybe with all the noise about their fees and perhaps people voting with their feet theyve had to react?

They have seemed obsessed with taking money up front and filling the site in advance of the date so there is no room for the Motorhomer who has not decided where they are going until two days before moving. They should keep part of the site for the casual camper. For that reason we usually keep to the small sites.

We’re staying at Haven in Flamborough next weekend, 3 nights on a fully serviced pitch for £48. Been before and as long as you go out of season, and avoid eating in their bar, then you really can’t get better value for money imho.

Our renewal is due. Only going to renew because we are staying at three of their Spanish winter sites and may need help with the odd night in Spain. Otherwise we would not renew.

I had to delay my stay on a CAMC site by exactly one Week.I did the changes online. For this I was fined/charged £20!I explained the change was brought about by a health scare to my 7 month old grandson. The site we were visiting has no cell phone reception whatsoever so we had to amend the booking just in case.Luckily he was fine but we had a couple of sleepless nights.I told the CAMC this and their response?Send an email to appeal and you might get considered as a special case.I have cancelled my DD after 27 or so years and therefore I wont have to be an inconvenience to them again .

Chatsworth is really an enigma to us, not the best of sites to look at, not the best of pitches between the trees, not the most modern of toilet blocks.
Yet top of the league for pricing, despite the staff being very pleasant we certainly won't be staying there.

I doubt that the ‘club’ will care……. :(

Made me think.
I looked at a couple of nights in CAMC Broadway or Cirencester for July.
Both had availability which I put down to either the deposit system or prices.
They are usually fully booked?
I have been a member for over 40 years wishing to keep using Red Pennant travel insurance but found Nationwide offer me similar cover for the grand sum of £80 for the years cover compared with £500 plus for a single holiday in Europe

You're choice to cancel if you don't agree with their diversification policy.
If enough members "complain" policy can be changed.
I very much doubt if the policy would be changed. It is now the policy to open up sites to non members by using the tents, yurts, pods etc. Being driven by top management of the company.

does that include repatriation of your vehicle if the driver or passenger is incapacitated or falls seriously and /or continuation of holiday cover if required ?

The only thing that keeps me subscribing to a 'club' versus using commercial sites is their policy of charging per person which as a solo traveller is much cheaper than the ubiquitous pitch price is for "two adults" plus an extra fee for Kerry.
But my CAMC membership has lapsed because of the introduction of deposits, pitch prices and the awful upgrade to their website.

Perhaps because I'm [relatively] easy going, I don't seem to notice the plethora of rules or overbearing wardens. I just park up plug in and get on with enjoying my break.
As a comparison, recently had a few days at Woodhall Spa [commercial] site and had to listen for five minutes to what I could & couldn't do.
🤷‍♂️

Stayed at Flamborough, a Haven site last weekend, £38 for Friday & Saturday night, site and shower blocks clean. On bus route into town, will stay there again!

Same for us we're there next weekend (sat/sun/mon nights) serviced pitch, slightly more £54 obviously use dynamic pricing ::bigsmile:

We were at Haggerston Castle about a month ago and there were a lot of gypsies there. Police had to be called to try and evict them, the attraction is obviously the cheap prices something CAMC probably don’t have a problem with I’m glad to say .

We are on C&MC site at Warwick, message my wife saw in toilet block
" where ever possible can you use your own facilities to help Stop cross contamination" !! What they really mean is " use your own facilities to enhance our profits" . That's as bad as what Cadbury has done , made a bar of chocolate 20% smaller but they still charge the same price , must think we were born under a Gooseberry bush.

So how would that increase their profits ?
Facilities block will still be cleaned every day

Just seen a new Aire pop up on search for sites by Carsington water. Brilliant I thought.

Go to website, it has a hot tub. Luxury pitch, yours for £75 a night……

Erm, nah. 😂

People are talking about all clubs and haven
Appreciate the conversation involves all clubs, but the context I refer to is specific to THS (Temporary Holiday Sites) and DA's (District Associations) The post inferred they were part of the CMC which is not correct, they are part of the Camping and Caravaning Club.

Just paid £248 with CCC discount (would have been £270) for 4 nights for 4 people on a Morris Leisure pitch in Llanberis next May. So it’s not just the clubs that are expensive.
Need to be there to support daughter and son in law who are running the 100km ultramarathon.
