Anyone worried?

Insurers have sent a lovely email with the sage advice to check all my roof tiles - are they trying to bet rid of me by sending me up on the roof 'coz if they are I won't pay their premiums next year

Stupid woman, in my opinion, just walked into coffee shop and, bragging, asked for coffee as she is on her way to the coast to stand at the sea edge to watch the storm and hoping to even swim in it.

I hope the coastguards are having their tea break at that moment so don't have to risk their lives. :(

(PS The silent response from everyone spoke volumes...... typically British politeness). :)

Was amazed to see a red warning for south west and South Wales - can’t remember the last time I saw that. We were expecting to get the worst of it up north but obviously it moved when its severity increased
I remember red warning march 2018 stuck in snow at Winkleigh devon from Thurs till Saturday.

This is the BBCs front page - I hope this lot just got very wet

Was bad on the M1 this morning at 5 30 Am Derbyshire Notts area , standing water, spray and strong wind .

The gusts have eased down now at Southampton dockhead from 80 to 65 knots. It was hard work walking back from the village just now. The poplar across the road is behaving as if there's a 500Kg Salmon pulling its string.

I am surprised (on maybe not?) at the number of people on Faceblook asking "do you think we should be driving or camping on Friday?"

How many high wind warnings do people need before they actually take notice?

Probably as many as the times they were told Covid is serious and to get vaccinated. Why believe the Met Office when Wayne on facebook will tell you it's nothing to worry about.

Very quiet here in North East Lincs at the moment, forecast more wind about 2pm, but so far it has been a pleasant day
Stay safe, everyone.....

Nope. No worries - survived the '87 hurricane force winds unscathed.
I’m happier with that version of your post 🤪

Don’t hurricanes have eyes?
I was out overnight during that 87 storm. Had to remove trees from Harts Hill to return my girl friend to her home. It was oddly warm as we walked out of the nightclub earlier that night.

Today, for Eunice, I’m staying indoors but had to go out to make a fence safe that’s lost a support. Plus deliberately push over “at risk” garden furniture and similar.

Edit: def. only a storm in 87. Wikipedia says so, 😝

I’m really worried about the awful winds we’re experiencing here atm, especially with having a motorhome in the garden. We haven’t got a motorhome for gods sake so who’s is it?
I'm also a bit worried about the caravan in our garden....we didn't have one yesterday

The sea here, between Southwold and Aldeburgh has large quantities of spray coming off it and the waves are breaking but don’t appear to be making it to the beach-they look as tho they’re going backwards!
The quite grand house in the middle of the campsite has just been reroofed and all scaffolding taken away, it will all be back soon as the winds have ripped the capping material off and is busy throwing tiles to the ground!
We are ok so far had some fair sized bits of tree land on the MoHo roof, no damage……yet!

Woke up to a layer of snow & a stiffening breeze. Bitter chill to that wind, so will wrap up well when I take Beau & Lola out for a walk across the fields :cold:
Oh dear - there goes a tile.......
Hopefully it's only one 🤞

In the van on a campsite in Cambs. These winds are incredible to say the least. Have had to hold my breath on quite a number of occasions.😬😬

Had an already dead tree fall in front of the van. 😲 It landed around 4ft from it.🙏 Wrap around thermal screen covers ripped off and ended up covering our washing line. I was out when this happened (typically) and the neighbouring caravan guy retrieved them and even folded them up for me - result 😆 Can’t believe they didn’t rip the wiper blades out from the wipers. Well they did actually, but just a few inches and it pushed back in ok. Phew. Looks like more high winds forecast..really looking forward to that. 🙄🤦‍♂️

I don’t understand why anyone worries about things they have no control over. It got a bit blowy and damaged a fence panel. I’ll fix it this morning. Perhaps if I’d worried about it it wouldn’t have been damaged. Can the worriers clarify whether worrying would have prevented the fence damage please?

No, of course worrying doesn't prevent things. However, some consequences can be more serious than a fence panel. We live in France and own land in the UK that's very exposed with very old oak trees on it. Some of those trees are close to a road. It's entirely possible one of those trees could've fallen and killed someone. If I didn't worry about that, I wouldn't be pleased with myself at all :)
