Anyone worried?

Absolutely dreading it here in Hulland, Derbyshire. I have been all over the house digging out torches and batteries. At least we have the log burning stove to keep us warm and boil a kettle on if the power goes(y)

Gina.

Just been outside and it is weirdly quiet I hope it may have passed without incident and the weather forecasters have it wrong

Not due to hit South Wales until about 0700 - 0800hrs tomorrow unfortunately.

Schools in Dorset closed tomorrow , presume it’s the same in other SW counties. Worst winds in 22 years forecast. I expect there will be plenty of muppets on the coast too close to the sea for a look.

I remember the Great Storm of 1987, I was at a friends house, left about 10pm, it was warm, and very quiet, oppressive even, we had no idea what was going to happen!

We’ve cleared the garden and tied everything down we could. Dragged the generator out and it wouldn’t start, stripped and cleaned the carburettor and found two jets blocked, back together and it’s running. Sod’s law says we wont need it now…. Not looking forward to what might be coming…

Only had our log burner on twice, both times due to power cuts. 23 hours the first one, 6 hours for the second :worried:
Fully expected to lose power yesterday but, thankfully, we were lucky.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow but have MoHo on the drive, so can cook & make warm drinks if we lose power :drinks:

Best bet is to have a PJ day, not venture out & chill:snooze:

Stay safe Funsters.

We were saying earlier, bad timing for the van to be in for works. We could have sat in there and watched telly box in the warmth and make a cuppa. So far still nice and quiet and no power cut (y)

Got to take SWMBO to Manchester tomorrow for her laser eye surgery
So got to drive in it.
MotorHome is outside house as away Saturday afternoon NEC Sunday Golf Show - knaresborogh Monday - NEC Tuesday for Caravan show. So praying weather calms before then.

I remember it well. All the local roads were blocked by fallen trees, so I set about helping to clear them.
Some contractors turned up & complained that I was "doing them out of money, so I'd better stop". Told them to "do one"(or words to that effect:giggler:) as I needed the road cleared by the morning not next week; I was flying to New Zealand & I had no intention of missing the flight!

In hindsight I should've left them to it but you live & learn :wasntme:

Am I allowed to look out of my lounge window at the sea.😂😂😂

We are currently in Spain enjoying 22 degrees but our lads are at home in South Wales. Spoke to them earlier and they’ve moved all the garden furniture including the pizza oven into the house!

Let’s hope they don’t loose power and light the damn thing.

High spring tides in the severn have caused huge problems in the past, be careful & stay away from the sea.
Lets hope it doesn't do this again.

We live on the south coast and have had text messages from the Environment Agency warning of a very high tide tomorrow for 2 hours either side of noon, with a serious risk of flooding :(

We were on holiday in Mallorca when the ‘not a hurricane’ hit the South-East in 1987 - flew back into Gatwick the next day and it was jaw-dropping passing over Kent and Sussex, seeing acres and acres of trees laying flat on the ground. Reminded me of photos of the ‘Tunguska Incident’…….. o_O o_O

We get a direct forecast from the horses mouth at work. Our very experienced and competent weather forecaster said it was the biggest he has seen for a number of years.

I am just in the lakes at the moment and moving to Scotland tomorrow. Home however will cop it in the midlands.

Anyone south of Derby shouldn’t go out tomorrow.

Hope everyone stays safe.
Just be careful of snowy weather as that looks like Scotland's lot for tomorrow. Have a safe journey please.

It was mad in 1987, One neighbours outhouse landed upside down on our patio about two inches from the patio doors, the neighbour the other side lost his greenhouse, never to be seen again, not even a bit of glass! the whole thing just disappeared!! We are keeping our fingers crossed tonight, down here on the south coast.🤞

I think we are set.

Parked at our unit, beside a customers van so it can't get damaged. No large trees around, unit is well built and everything that was outside is now inside. I've walked around the estate and apart from a skip up the road, there's nothing to be blown at us.

So done all we can and for anything else there's insurance.

Good luck everyone re damage etc.
