Adblue removal

The original was v13 but soon increased. mine is a november 16 cab registered in 2018 and updated to v28 in 2019 possibly july 18 as well, it has been written to twice. If yours has been to a fiat pro before it may allready have an intermedeate version which may be totally acceptable. To find out version you have you can interogate OBD2 with multiecuscan or Alfaobd. If you have an android smart phone download the demo version for free it can do the job. There has been quite a difference in attitude of fiat professional delears to updating.
i have just phoned 2 fiat proffessional garages that deal with servicing motorhomes and the dont know of any updates on the fueling map i must be doing something wrong here

No, that's the response I got when I asked locally as well. [2019. 130bhp.].No Add blue.

Ive just added a poll to the Fiat section of mechanical technical other
"What is The engine ecu software version and can it be updated to V32"
is the question you need answering, referencing the fuel map would likely confuse.

All plastics are recyclable anyway, it's just an excuse to moan about something else about environmental issues !
I tend to reuse a lot of mine for diluting cleaning chemicals, I think the little spout makes it an easy transfer.
Just rim your adblue and when 1st light comes on you have half a tank, then it work's out easily, as on a 400 mile warning your tank can only be 25% full. That's just the way I see it 👌

I wish it was that simple for my MH. I wouldn’t mind the occasional Jerry can of it but it needs filling up every 400 miles.
That seems a bit excessive at 400 miles. Think mine is about 20 let’s and I went down to Croatia and back last year, filled up on the way back in Belgium but still had 16% left.

When I had my M/H and car remapped the chap said the bulk of his work was deleting CATs and Adblue from vehicles.
Would definitely have mine deleted if I had to fill pretty much every day☹️☹️

Mot failure for both.
Only if it can be detected . cat isn't testable & as long as externally it is correct the insides can be removed. same with a dpf. Delete from ecu.
only mot with an OBd delete/reposition/ lock means cannot be tested as not allowed to fiddle with anything .

Is it the AdBlue system itself that is at fault? Faults like over consumption of AdBlue could just as easily be down to incorrect ECU information.
Absolutely, same as the twin egr system, the problems were all sorted by march 2019 by software version 28, (started off at 13, ended at 32, sept 19, even second full refurb by Italian Fiat technicians still has 32 ).
The scattergun parts replacement Fiat method didn't help much. Neither did low mileage motorhomes not taking them to Fiat pro for servicing. Should have been a recall activecampers Your problems with 30 would have been different, strangely manfuctured after 32 was available (another tinkering version) ). The problem is now well understood it that given the data i can identify the problem, unfortunately I am unable to predict the problem. There is no subtley changing variable i can identify, it just flips over from in control to out of control.
The software version and update is a bit of a contentionious issue. Some Fiat pro dont check or update my local wanted to charge. I took mine to Adams Morey in Portsmouth for a cambelt change and update. Again was told if no problems the system wont update but it was plugged in to check. When is it a functioning version or a reclamation version eg 32 (different calibration factors) perhaps mine just hasnt done enough miles to fail. What i find interesting is that my first update was done at a service without my knowledge or even being advised. They obviuosly plug in to reset service interval and machine takes over and updates. Difference between 28 no probs and 30 probs and update interesting. Would love to know all current used versions.

I feel happier knowing I'm helping save the environment, even if it cost's money to do so ! Just ordered 2 x 20 litre Adblue for £24.95 . . . So although my Ducato is crap on Adblue I will get 6,000 miles for £50 I can live with that, and enjoy our trip's a lot better knowing we doing our bit 🤷‍♂️

Do you need a reminder both versions are Euro6 compliant engines? Either by the addition of twin egr’s or AdBlue.

We learned this week you get cleaner air standing beside a London road all day than spending an hour on the London underground!

That’s what I do Lenny but not all filling stations have Adblue pumps, especially in France and Spain

I’m now having to carry 2 x 10ltr containers of it and tbh it’s a pita 😡

Also i’m wondering if mine might have a problem, brand new and i’d done 1250 miles ish before the warning light came on. This trip from leaving home to cross France it came on after 480 miles 😱

daveclare were witness to that as well

Generally always find a pump in the HGV lanes

Amazing how some questions encourage certain types of replies. Human nature at its best.

We have a 2016 Audi A4 2000cc service by Audi from new, it has done only 26300 miles the adblue fault light came on, no restart in 650 miles. A well known fault on the 2 litre diesel Audi’s estimate is around £2000 to fix. Will have it done as it’s there from a reason.

Re the comment about crystallisation we do very little mileage in the car. It had done less than a thousand miles between the last two mot’s and often sits for months at a time as we use the two 90/180 days in France to the max.

hi Karl

all I do now is every month or 2 when on a motorway or road I know I can do 2500rpm in 6th gear for 30 minutes that’s what I do.

It’s not perfect but it’s an answer, my 640 miles ish per 9-10 ltrs of adblue has gone up to 900-1100 ish between lights coming on so i’m happy with that tbh

I considered chopping it in for a Merc based motorhome but i’m not fussed about laying out another £100 grand just to get better adblue mileage 🤣😱

My last motorhome had Euro 6 engine and no adblue so no polution issues or it wouldn’t have been manufactured. MOT passed no issues whatsoever.

New motorhome, same engine and adblue, so removing it cannot increase the pollution as there’s none to start with surely
There's a difference in Euro 6 Temp & Euro 6 Final emission standards. It's why FIAT moved away from twin EGR's. The engines aren't the same either as one will be a final stage Multijet II and the other a Multijet III.

Stellantis now use the same engine across the three original SEVEL vans when previously the 2 PSA's used the Ford partnership designed lump.

I know it's all politics, hence the reason why new family EV's which cost £40k - which with extended range will be most of them, will cost £570 a year to tax for the first 5 years of ownership. No different to say a top end diesel SUV.

Not sure if anyone has heard of this but when I was having Nox sensor troubles with Adblue warning abounding, my garage used a flushing agent to clear the Adblue crystals in the system. Haven’t seen it in Halfords though.

As I've posted before about 3000 between each fill up and the engine is being worked hard as we tow a 2t trailer 99% of the mileage we do - only time not towing is when we take it in for servicing.
