A photo of the day thread

Tried to keep this Sycamore tree small over the years it's about 5' now one of the kids planted it 22 years ago.

Wondering if it will ever have any conkers on it ?

Also found in the Pierhead Building, the red brick building that is in the background of many of the recent pictures.;

A memorial to the Battle of Mametz Wood, part of the Somme offensive.

Well done Prince!

Waiting for you this afternoon/evening! Be aware bell has been deactivated ... Ringing it was too much of a good game for gypsies children! Just ring my phone once or twice so I know you're in front of the gate! XxXxX

The final pieces of the Food Festival start to fall into place before tomorrow's opening.

This is what is best described as 'The Craft Area.'

The 'International' aspect of the Food Court.

In the distance you can just see The Norwegian Church and the little white tents of the Farmer's Market. Possibly my favourite area, this is where the smaller 'one man' specialist food businesses display.

Yesterday afternoon it was a bit quiet indoors, so I decided to pop out for a couple of hours locally and
ended up at Boscastle where I've not been for while. Walked the cliff path for a way and met lots of nice people to chat too, including a couple from Cheshire with 2 identical dogs to the late Kimberley - we swapped yarns! After that I went into the Witchcraft museum - now without a dog things like this are more possible, so perhaps "every cloud".....

The Witchcraft museum was very interesting and a little creepy at the same time - what struck me most was when the owner told me that there are still many active covens throughout England, especially in Devon and Cornwall.

I've actually come across circles made of woven reeds or hazel sticks in local woods when walking the dog and she confirmed that these were indeed related to witchcraft - apparently they dance around naked, often with masks and hoods etc. The only one being fully clothed is the high priest or priestess - kinky! Oh and Bodmin Moor is like the holy grail of witchcraft, not to mention Piskey's (not pixies) and faeries (not fairies) !

Stunning photos ! Can't believe that was the same village swamped in a flood a few years ago . The sight of the motorhome floating down shows the power water! Looks lovely now!

Some of the walls in the museum are still free of plastering to allow the stone to properly dry out. Also a few of the exhibits are flood damaged - some being so rare they were irreplaceable, but not as many as you'd expect considering how bad it was. They've done some alterations to the way the stream runs through the lower part of the village to the harbour, but to be honest they've disguised it very well. The only obvious alteration is just below the bridge where there is a cavernous, letter-box type slit in one side above the water level. Such a piddly little stream most of the time!

Well I've completed my walk around the Festival happy that I lunched before going as there was so much nice food on offer, and the smells...

Oh, the meat pie :)

Do you think so?

I know nothing about lettuce growing.

Are they big enough now for replanting?

JJ

Lettuce do not really like replanting Jj. If you put seeds in a garden you do it in rows and at this stage just pull the weaker ones out .. discard. In uour case I would say give another week and then put into individual pots... remember once gtown just pull off the leaves you want AS you want and it will keep replenishing.
