A couple of iPhone pics from a hike away from & back to the Three Magpies’ campsite nr Sells Green

Edit. Sorry. I could be less vague about my location. The pitch is ~300m from the Kennet & Avon canal and then <6km to the Wadworth Brewery, Devizes. yy

What did we do last night.
Had a great BBQ.
Meat was cooked on this KAMADOJOE all ceramic, all singing and dancing very expensive and very very heavy BBQ. No question, the build quality is excellent. Twas a gift to my son.
The meat as far as i was concerned, good quality rib eye for eg tasted just the same as a tin fab Dhs 25 BBQ from the souk.
Tell you, two men struggle to lift if so not one for the garage in the MH.
Son was telling it does this it does that blah blah, head and over it springs to mind.

I'd love one of those if I was not full timing, it is as you said too heavy and takes up too much space, however there is lots you can do with them, especially if you like low and slow cooking cuts like brisket, add some wood chips so it's smoked as well, delicious 😋

Exactly what my son did a couple of weeks ago, brisket smoked, said it was spot on.
Here in Dubai the one pictured was just over £3,000.............mad.

Pounds or Dirhams? I was working out there in 83/84 and I don't remember prices being that mad but I guess the country has changed massively since then.

Exchange rate at the mo is 4.4 Dhs = £1.
Everything here has gone really expensive over the years since the tourists started to arrive. Easy touch are they not.

Wow, that is pricey. Homebase were selling that model for £900 last summer. Had ours for years and have really had our money’s worth out of it. And we have taken it away on some of our big family camping trips - tied down to a pallet in the back of a VWT5 van! Smaller versions are available which just might be viable to take away in a MoHo (if you had the payload!).

Best outdoor cooking around - although the Cobb comes a close second due to it’s portability- provided you’re not wanting to go low and slow. ;)

A couple of pics from today. The much photographed Kennet & Avon Canal near the C&CC Site @Devizes. The Heron wouldn’t co-operate and stay on the bank but insisted on flying away, spoilsport!

Have you had a walk up to The Barge Pub, very nice food and a good stroll along the canal path.

Yep I’m on our 3rd Kamado Joe……treated myself to the latest version during lockdown and that was and still is around £1800 for a bundle deal, like you say the one in the pic is around £800 over here. We also have the Kamado Joe Junior for the MH (yes I am a bbq geek and was built forr bbq and beer!!). Mind you the Joe Junior is 40kg! Thankfully we have +1000kg of payload :)

The Barge Inn at Seend? Haven’t got there - yet. It is tempting. It would be a less than 6km walk there & back but I’d have to get passed our hosts boozer 🤪 the Three Magpies.

Today we walked to Melksham for a none-towpath walk.
Tomorrow we head East to Devizes and the pubs there. I’ll be lucky to get mrskevenh into Seend when it’s the wrong way. NVM I’ll be cycling passed both K&A Barge Inns in Summer 👍🏻

Yes

Yes we have.

The Devizes CC&C Site is one of our favourites. An easy run from home, pleasant site right beside the canal and with The Three Magpies right outside and The Barge as a nice canal side walk.

Although we sadly lost our dog a couple of years ago both pubs are dog friendly so very welcoming.

I'm guess this guy a few villas up from my son was not a scaffolder.
He must have had a lot of slaves though.
