The Severn from Sharpness on a falling tide.

We pitched up on Friday at the Dockers Club for £5 a night and enjoyed some very reasonably priced drinks. Saturday we cycled the Gloucester & Sharpness Canal to meet family at the WWT Slimbridge, and on the way came across several crews form various college and university rowing clubs on a time trial.

Passed the Purton Ghost Ships on the way.

Witnessed a cracking demonstration of a dog working the Duck Decoy at Slimbridge but sadly was so interested in the process forgot to take any pictures!

I think I recognise the 2nd picture - cafe by canal bridge alongside Tudor Caravan Park? Nice site, but not cheap. I’ve never seen the Ghost Ships though. Another one for the expanding list!

The 2 ships what collided with the old rail bridge. I believe all hands were Lost. The remains of the bridge was demolished later.

The bridge was a rail bridge and kids from the english side used to come by train to school in Lydney (in england, but welsh side of the river) No bridge, no train, no school. Caused chaos for a while.

We stayed at the CAMC CL just across the swing bridge in 2021 and also cycled to WWT. Needed a machete when we did it!

Beach 4 mins walk (5 if you walk slower) from son's villa in Jumeriah. 3/4 ks up from a very touristy popular Kite Beach.
Behind me are showers, toilets and shade.
Rubber running track goes on forever and the boardwalk similar.
Boring innit.

We're at CMC KNARESBOROUGH and photo is of pub in Scotton, 10 minutes walk from site. Pub named after Guy Fawkes who lived with his mother in Scotton.

There is a bar on site but doesn't allow dogs indoors but has a sign "use it or loose it". Many people currently on site have dogs, this time of year can't use it. So seems as though they pop down road to Scotton.

I understand the argument for CMC bar but think it would be full this time of night with dog owners.

Any pint of Black Sheep was lovely.

I agree with you. It’s boring. Where’s the Punch & Judy show? Scantily clad girls playing volley ball? Algerians selling fake Rolex watches? The most interesting feature is the big sign telling you all the things you can’t do. And I pity the little man with the broom.

Just off the A5 going South from Oswestry. SY11 4JH
check out the website. There is so much there and a nice cafe also. If you plan on going more than once in a year it’s worth becoming a member at £7.50 each then it’s free and free parking, discount in shop and cafe. Enjoy. (y)
