A photo of the day thread

What a day.
Decided to give Annecy a miss as we have to be in Calpe for Tues lunch time, then El Campello on Wed morn.
So a long day driving from Colmar to just outside Carcassone, 524 miles, 840 Ks. Easy peasy. Ran out of Add Blue 2 hours from destination what a performance.
AND our first French Passion stop, Mireepeisset, Domaine de L'Herbe Sainte. A winery i think they call them.
It's ok. Wedding on tonight so no restaurant for us peasants. 7pm and we are the only travellers.
Have a look see at Carcasonne tomorrow for a few hours , have a look at that big old slum.

War wound on the MH, the scooter handlebar wanted to come inside.

We're at camping Cite de Carcassonne, lovely site within walking distance of the Cite

The camping car park at Quillan is right next to a former railway.Think it terminates at Limoux now.
Beeching "strikes" again
🍻😎

The impressive bell tower which is a separate building. Apparently it’s a common thing in this area to be 'stand alone' builds. Probably done at a later date when funds allowed.

Whilst photographing the tower I spotted this Peregrine Falcon. It obviously had a nest up there as I could hear the chicks calling when it landed. The other parent can just be seen circling overhead.

Actually another bo@@ock dropped by me. We are 35Ks out of Carcasonne.......how the flip did that happen.
AND
5 bottles of Bud calmed the nerves and help somewhat:LOL:
Mrs drinks a little wine, mainly prosseco or the like, i don't touch the stuff happy with my simple bottles of stuff like Bub, San Mig and the like.

Bob Valencia camping park is a good place to stay, you can get a metro just down the road from there into Valencia. And they do great wood fired paella on site. (y)

I do find that I spend a lot of time on my iPad researching places to go, on our last trip we still went to a few places that were not very good and wished we hadn’t.

Have you got Search For Sites on any devices?
Found this to be the best for finding places to stay.

That boats a sad site, I spent a couple of years working in a boat yard in the 70's you kind of fall in love with them sometimes, even though they can be cramped and awkward to work on.
Yes, it sad when a boat dies but then it becomes home for so many other creatures.
Next time your near one, look at the life, not the demise! 🤔

Coming to Raymon Hall site tomorrow, is it is to find and will you still be there?
Hi Otter Spotter - The farm is marked on the OS map, so easy enough to find. It's about 10 minutes walk out of the village. Roads to it are narrow without many passing places. The entrance is sharp on the right, opposite the farm itself. Nice and relaxed site. Never saw the owners - posted our payment in their letter box as requested before leaving.

Orford is a lovely village, with interesting walks. Recommend the Meat Shed in the village for BBQ stuff. It really is a butchers in a shed!

We've left now, otherwise would have been good to see you. Looks like we are doing a similar itinerary. Seeing as this is a photo thread, I've attached one of the Maggi Hambling sculpture on Aldeburgh beach.

I think there is a bit of a door fetishism on here so here is one I forgot to post its in wolfram in germany

Otter Spotter - PS - I forgot to mention, if you are still in Southwold, check out the Under The Pier show - a brilliant collection of weird and wacky slot machines / amusements.

Mad in the ‘under the pier show’. we had a nice wonder around Southwold before it got busy then called in at Dunwich for an Icecream, would had fish and chips but we have Mackrel ready to cook for evening meal.

Shame you have moved on, thanks for the directions and the butcher will get a visit 👍🏻👍🏻
