That view of the church brought tears to my eyes, we visited in 2004 and renewed our vows. Annoyingly we had a coach load of Japanese turn up and acted as witnesses I think we are on at least 50 selfiesCamping beside the truly turquoise waters of Lake Tekapo on the South Island of NZ. 6 degrees at night and 22 degrees during the day.
It’s lupin time and although they look so beautiful around the lake and on roadsides they are becoming a noxious weed.
Photos include the Church of the Good Shepherd and a statue to commemorate the importance of the collie dog to the sheep farmer. ”Get down Shep”.

Wow! Tears of joy, I hope. That view of the church brought tears to my eyes, we visited in 2004 and renewed our vows. Annoyingly we had a coach load of Japanese turn up and acted as witnesses I think we are on at least 50 selfies
That’s what happened to us, the coach driver did apologise and we saw the funny side of it better still one of the Japanese produced a bottle of Whiskey and gave it to us, as he thought we were getting married for the first time, result.Wow! Tears of joy, I hope.
Your story of the Japanese tourists reminds me - several years ago, when the local police office in Tekapo died, his funeral was held at the Church of the Good Shepherd. A coach load of Japanese tourists was disgorged and “stormed” the church with their selfie sticks and posed in front of the congregation. They truly thought it was an entertainment put on for their benefit.
I have to admit that towns like Tekapo are missing the Japanese (and other nationalities) this year, but only for their spending power.
You’re not supposed to be out after dark. Hope you had winter woollies on and a torch
