As I am led to believe the "Hushings" although a very old name for hydrolic mining comes about in this part of Lancashire as this is the sound the water makes as it washes down the hill into yesterday's hollow. As the water washes down it takes the top soil off and dumps it in rows. Tomorrow's hushing rushes down the hill and knocks through the row of soil from yesterday and floods through in smaller Hushings again wash the topsoil with it.Interested in this landscape, so looked it up but nothing comes up about The Shushings. Do you happen to know what causes the bumps (apart from the moles! )?
Very interesting, thank you for all the information. As I am led to believe the "Hushings" although a very old name for hydrolic mining comes about in this part of Lancashire as this is the sound the water makes as it washes down the hill into yesterday's hollow. The top soil needs to be removed so the miners can get at the Limestone beneath.
Others say the form of the landscape is because the Giant of Lancashire grabbed handfuls of earth to throw at the (mini) Giant of Yorkshire .

Not boring at all Joy, we’ve been here, very quaint. I like doors as well, took loads of pictures of the amazing doors in Funchal, Madeira.Sorry a bit boring but I am becoming obssessed with old doors. The thought of the people who walked through them in medaeval times, their trials and tribulations of life in those days. Makes my hairs on my arms stand on end.
Debs and I went for a trip out to Wells and I found lots of doors; tiny as people were short in those days.

This is hanging on our hallway wall. We have had it for 40 years. Taken from a old Arabs villa in what's know as The Bastakia. For about 20 years it was a coffee table? No idea of age but can assure you it's not an Ikea item.Sorry a bit boring but I am becoming obssessed with old doors. It's just over a week older than me and I've weathered better - as I don't have any rust.first registered 19 November 1951

You are over feeding it!
Aah ha, I see the power company follow the same principles as a certain well known Telecom company here in Scotland. Let's stick the poles in the sea and then express surprise when they collapse through rot, storms, and sundry other misadventures......The Great Taste Cycle Trail (shared with pedestrians and Pukekos) at Richmond, top of the South Island of NZ.

We are at a Murvi rally this weekend at the Hereford Rowing Club campsite. Close to the town centre and beside the Wye. We have negotiated a rate of £8 per night - which isn't bad for a site with all the basic facilities except EHU. The club do cooked breakfasts and takeaway pizzas etc. In normal times there is even a bar.
Recommended place to visit and ideal for a rally. We have nearly 30 vans and it could take 60 or so more in our own little roped off field.
