A photo of the day thread

In my pics above, I was paid to take a cameraman on my bike to film the race.
It was on closed roads, so could speed past the watching cops ;)

We filmed the elite ladies group.
I was beginning to think that I was missing something and you were competing on the cycle leg on a gixer

Brick gate post 1 MH 0.
Think i did a good job piecing the bit together.
There is a piece from the reversing light to the corner that was laying on the ground. and the side panel had been pulled backwards about 4 inc. Temp repair. Taking it down to my man now to see when he can fix it.

Portmerion this morning, we got the best of the weather 😀

Also out on a bike.
The Shushings, Gorple Res.
I think they have big moles.
Also, who said it will be busy due to stacations, never saw a soul.View attachment 513438

I can't find a reference to "shushings" anywhere :) but if that's the Gorple Reservoir near Hebden Bridge I think they may be the remains of ancient peat digging.

DBK Finger trouble with an extra "s" it should have read hushings as in
...hundreds of years of 'hushing' for limestone to make qicklime…
I understand its name comes from the sound the water makes when used to wash out the limestone from the ground.

They are visible on Google maps as long strips which was what made me think it was peat digging. In Cumbria the peat mosses were sometimes divided up into strips called stints and folk had rights to cut the peat on their stint.

Went to check out a winter pitch ( £355 for 2 months with EHU in December and January) on a site near Dunwich, Suffolk and saw this interesting combo.

Then a walk round Southwold and saw they have decorated the letter boxes with crochet hats.

Sorry a bit boring but I am becoming obssessed with old doors. The thought of the people who walked through them in medaeval times, their trials and tribulations of life in those days. Makes my hairs on my arms stand on end.

Debs and I went for a trip out to Wells and I found lots of doors; tiny as people were short in those days. :)

Interested in this landscape, so looked it up but nothing comes up about The Shushings. Do you happen to know what causes the bumps (apart from the moles! 😆)?
