Having lost our GSD/Border Collie Cross last February we are now walking our daughter’s puppy when she is in work. He is a rehoused dog who had been neglected and has a couple of behavioural problems which we are working. Very friendly and with a great personality.

I did ask why she named him after a fictional serial killer, Dexter!

Today we walked him down to the sea and were surprised to see that the strong winds and big waves had washed a long way above the normal high water mark.

We are in Cornwall, yes they have let us in. Staying at Carnon Downs CMC affiliated site which is a lovely well spaced out site. Went for a lovely walk from site to Penpol, Point and Devoran, pictures taken walking around there. They include remnants of an old crushing wheel and Carnon mine.

Right now in a poncy beach bar. Bloody expensive. But Pen's pals are playing. There's worse ways to chill on a Sunday :)

Yeah! Like us in lockdown. Can’t even leave our county and the weather next week is poor. We have just had to cancel our holiday in the Canaries for next January as, at this stage we only lose the deposit (£400), later we would lose the full amount.

Am I jealous.............?

What do you think?

Having a few days at Trevedra Farm in the far south west. Bit damp, breezy and cold today but the forecast improves this week. Saw a few Choughs from the path down to the beach below the site and as it faces west there are prospects of some good sunsets. This is the best from today, minutes before a shower came bowling in. :)

We have stayed there many times when we lived in the UK. Amazing sunsets.

Showers were forecast all day so we went for a short drive this morning to visit the Levant Mine which is a National Truss :) property with the oldest working beam engine in Cornwall.

It was of course closed.

But we had an enjoyable wander around the site and there are notice boards dotted about which give a glimpse into the history.

One bit was sobering.

This was at the site of where the "man engine" stood which was a curious device used by the miners to travel up and down the shaft. It was essentially two ladders which moved up and down but each moved in opposite directions. The miners would step from one to the other and ascend or descend step by step.

Then one day the chain broke and 31 men and no doubt boys fell to their deaths.

I'd heard of this dreadful incident before but didn't connect it to this mine.

The setting is dramatic and chimneys like the one below can be seen all along the coast.

This afternoon we had a sunny spell so we went for a brief walk. Part of the Trevedra site is called Aire Point which had me wondering if it was run like an aire. :)

But a glance at the map explained the name. This part of the site overlooks Aire Point.

But there is no aire here either. :)
