The one place I really wanted to visit on our tour around, but it was completely cut off due to the quake. Looks great.....will be back sometime soon
It is just amazing how they have rebuilt the road. It is still being worked on. We live in Blenheim but travel to Christchurch several times a year so have seen the gradual but wonderful work that has been done. Do hope you get back this way in the not too distant future.

Deployed overseas at the moment on desert op’s and came across these today.

Fully kitted out to operate in the desert and rather well appointed too, with a decent fridge, microwave, 2 hob burner, porcelain loo, half bath/shower, aircon and comfy bed and all converted to take UK 3 pin plugs.

Even rigged up double spare wheels, electric awnings and fitted Honda generators.

Wouldn’t have minded one of those on certain occasions:)

What is it about water .. immediately feel relaxed and 10 x better. :)

You know what Joy, funny you should say that. Last night we were on an aire at Grisolles which is just a leisure centre carpark. Boring as hell just looking out the window at boring cars. Today we are here and I am sat here while I type this and just look up and see the lake and fields. Nikki said to me only five minutes ago, you love it here don’t you. Must admit I love being near water. (y)

We must agree with you , we always try to find an aire by water , rivers , canals , lakes or large ponds etc , occasionally by the sea , if it's not too expensive. Very relaxing !! Suits us and our dog asbo, we hope our new one maddie likes it too.

I love being by the water, Val's not so keen, comes from an incident as a nipper when her dad didn't set the caravan handbrake properly.

Camping de Montreal at Germain les belles, just south of Limoges

One of our favourite stopping off places when travelling North or South through the area.
One of the few ACSI sites open in France in the winter. Also Stocks ACSI books.

I was all set up yesterday to take pics of the Blood moon but it was cloudy :( . Took this ten minutes ago focussing on the edge rather than the centre and you can clearly see how rugged it is up there. By the way, I know it could be a little sharper but this is a handheld shot. The 6 stop stabilisation in the Olympus OMD ME1 is unbelievable. :D

@Jim It looks pretty much like a tangerine to me! I can see the quarters of it and also the bottom of it! Are you sure it's not some paintshop thingy... errr Sir  !?

It’s not the moon, can’t see any clangers or the pea soup dragon.

In this way, the tree of life is a symbol of a fresh start on life, positive energy, good health and a bright future. As a symbol of immortality. A tree grows old, yet it bearsseeds that contain its very essence and in this way, the tree becomes immortal. As a symbol of growth and strength.

I know you don't need it, but that printed onto canvas and framed with silver blue frame would sell for quite a lot in the galleries in Somerset.

It was struck by an asteroid during the blood moon. This video (not mine!) shows the briefest of white flashes in the top left.
