A photo of the day thread

2018-09-11 Garden Diadem Spider (1).JPG

@JaG called me to his caravan this morning to take this photo - a beautiful Garden Diadem Spider which we watched change colour from Yellow to Orange as it settled on it's leaf to wait for prey to land in it's web

You wait all year to see a hot air balloon then 8 show up at once. Loire valley, near Chenonceau an hour ago

Currently stopped at Le Moulin Fort campsite near Chateau Chenonceau. Really recommend the site, right on the Cher river (Loire tributary) Chateau is 20 minute stroll along river bank from the site, through dappled woodland. Awesome.

@OldCodger When you drive to Chateau Chenonceau you cross the railway line . If you turn immediately left then in about 100mtrs there is a grass strip you can park you van and possibly stay for a while.

If you are anywhere near it could you just check to see if our folding step is still there. We drove off and left it in 2016.::bigsmile:::bigsmile:

Beautiful sunrise this morning, it was a tad cold but the day will warm up.
Laika the wonderdog found a few chicken bones on the walk but she will spit them out when asked to, good dog.(apologies for another bridge photo)

When they said we could stay for free in the vineyard they weren’t kidding...

Really great stop. The “tasting” is free. The tour of the chateau and winery is €5. While experience in wonderful.

Truly wild camping and free to stay. No services.

First photo , St Pauls and the millenium bridge this morning, hide tide as well.
The second photo is of Battersea Power station yesterday afternoon . Laika the wonderdog and I enjoyed a great walk round Battersea Park. The clock tower is Battersea dogs home.

Chateau Ussé, Loire Valley. Rumoured to be the inspiration for Disney’s Sleeping Beauty Castle. Lovely place and the first one we’ve been to where our dog could come into the Chateau with us.

Yes there’s a wicked witch locked in the room at the top of the tallest tower and an old spinning wheel in the attic!

We have had a great day at the Kop hill climb, lots of great old cars and characters/nutters. :D

Clive's 1918 Bianchi had the brakes seize on half way up the hill on the first run but after a bit of adjustment a fiddling we were ready for the afternoon run.
On the afternoon run we ran out of puff near the top probably due to the weight on my 17 and a half stone carcass, so I jumped out and with a push the Bianchi was on the move again but now with me running behind, well for a while before I ran out of puff.
Reunited with the car at the top of the hill the trip back down the other side and back to the paddock was decidedly hairy as the car only has back brake, well sort of and modern traffic stops a bloody site quicker than we can.

Will be doing it all over again tomorrow. (y)
