A photo of the day thread

The Worcester apples looking good in our orchard this morning. Normally ready here in Cumbria 1st week in Sept. and thought the dry weather would delay that but tried one this morning and fairly juicy. Just put a couple in the roast chicken in the Remoska to see how that turns out...

Hi, I received a notification yesterday from Tesco about "fair usage" so I have taken the contract card out of my phone and stuck an old pay as you go one in. In the meantime you will be pleased to learn that I will be depending of free wifi for a few days so you will be spared my regular submissions - they will become irregular!

On Saturday I decided I would travel the Brienz Rothon Bahn again. This time I would travel to the station at Plan Alp lurk around for an hour or so taking pictures of trains and then take a "gentle stroll" back.

First a picture of one of the trains. I took many pictures and video using three cameras but enough of that.
image.jpeg

I believed that the 5.5 kilomètre stroll down hill back to Brienz would be a breeze and it started like this.
image.jpeg

I was sold, it would be a doddle. Oh dear "whatta mistaka to maka" it soon turned into this!
image.jpeg

Loose rough stones, I was not wearing the correct footwear for this caper, and at times sort of granules which were like walking on ball bearings. I was having to lean backward as I walked and use muscles I had forgotten about to hold myself back. Never again. If you decide to do this ride, make sure you ride back as well.

I am going to try and add something to the Fannying about in France thread before I lose the free wifi.

Cheers Clive

An abundance of fruit and flowers down the lanes and tracks heading into Cardigan, what a wonderful and beautiful country we have the blessing to live and breath in and so easy to dismiss and walk on by.

I literally gorged myself on sweet ripe blackberries, absolutely delicious:)

What is this? (Not my photo but released today so it counts as a Photo of the Day :) )

The track of a Funster exploring Italy then stocking up on cheap fuel and cigarettes in Andorra?

Whoever it is they started in the bit north of Venice, visited Croatia, perhaps for some sun bathing then went on a big explore near Rome before heading west across France and into Spain.

Any ideas who it might be?

The answer might surprise you. :)

I'm presently touring Thailand on a Motorbike. Tonight I'm staying at a home stay and the lady of the house has just cooked me this; it tastes even better than it looks and a steal for 30 baht (approx £0.75p). The beer is cold too and plentiful.

I've not seen a single MH or camper van in SE Asia but the proliferation of pick up trucks would seem ideal for 5th wheelers or demountables.

I'm told that SE Asia is braced for an influx of Chinese MH travellers in the near future......

@RFS Are you still in Thailand. You have a 'Conversation' that I would like you to read. Regards emmitdb

Good evening from Bligny sur Ouche

I left Interlaken on Sunday morning stopping at Hôpitaux-Neufs and made my way here on Monday when I discovered the "free" internet. I did a brief update then and mentioned the Train Touristique which was being operated by a diesel. I moved on to Pont d'Ouche where I spent the next two nights parked next to the Canal de Bourgogne. More pictures in Fannying about in France if you are interested.
image.jpeg

Parked by the canal, the puddle was from that mornings rain.
image.jpeg

I decided to go cycling on Tuesday and rode along the canal tow path to Pont de Pany and back, only about 45 kilometres.
I was surprised to find that unlike the other canals I have ridden beside the locks on this canal are operated by hand, with the lock keepers (in this case a young girl) going where they are needed on small scooters.

The large barges have been converted into very personal floating accommodation promoting "wine and water". They go no where fast and seem to be very well operated - a distinct whiff of the English about them.

On my return I spent the afternoon doing nothing other than watching people play boules and a mother an sun fishing. Both very amusing.
image.jpeg

I went riding again today, only a short ride up to Vandenesse and back only about 23 kilometres but I need the exercise. I saw this charming Chateau Neuf along the way.
On my return to Fanny I packed up and moved back to Bligny sur Ouche where I planned to and am staying at the Camping Les Isles campsite. This gives easy access to the train Touristique. Today being Jour Ferries it was steam operation and three locomotives in steam.
image.jpeg

That is it for now. I will be updating the Fanny thread later. The internet does work but is remarkably slow. I anticipate the update complete somewhere around 2000.

Cheers Clive

Who says you need expensive implants, when this has been hidden away in deepest, darkest Cardigan:)

I’m taking orders now, but hurry there’s only 3 boxes left:)

Impressed with the awning...

But wouldn’t fancy trying to sleep in it.

It did have a small cooker, sink, fridge and a solar panel on the pop top roof.

Sunshine and showers today on our way home from shopping in Penrith. Still playing with our P20 Pro camera. Sat for 15 mins or so watching the sunlight moving over the fells leading up to Blencathra (Saddleback) in the Northern Lake District.
Quite atmospheric
