A photo of the day thread

Stopped off for the night near St Malo on our way back to Calais

We are on a free aire about 200 metres from this view

Always wondered where snails come from, now I know-a snail tree!

I once towed my caravan into a field of Snail trees, near Bilbao, before getting on the ferry home. When I loaded the next morning little did I know that I had 100's of illegal immigrants on board hiding on the van chassis.

I often wondered what they thought of Wales and if the colony survived?

As we have been away a couple of weeks now the MoHo was looking rather grubby and coating our clothes with some nice road grime every time we brushed against it. So arrived at White Water C&MC site at Teeside and look what I found!

Asked the wardens if it was ok to wash van and was there a charge? Answer was to help myself and no charge. The van is now gleaming and I am sitting here fuming as it has just started to p**s it down. Bloody typical.

We set off to the Sierra mountains this morning and while driving along a condor appeared flying beside us. We pulled over at the next pull in and spent lunch and a wonderful afternoon watching these truly magnificent birds soaring around the Canon De Leza.

These were a distance away so not the best of shots.

Is that a Condor or a Griffon Vulture?

Whichever they are lovely birds and great to soar with, they have no fear and will come really close and form up on you to ride your tip vortices. When they peel off they make great thermal indicators.

Yup, I recon your right, just done a Google translate and "buitre" from the info board at the lookout point in Spanish translates as vulture. (y)

Not a pic of away but a pic of home - I'm just very relieved to be able to see the dining room table again after almost a year.

I guess I need to start cooking those meals I've promised to folks now:eek::LOL:

Brave person with no glove on

Apparently they have been together for 19 years, his 'baby' and companion. It was strange to watch them together .. the bird obviously loved him in whichever way pets love us.
