A photo of the day thread

Not a great photo but felt the moon was sort of strange tonight.. remember someone saying it was about to do something on the 14th?

Wow the moon looks like a thin sliver of lemon! (well, apart from the colour of course)
Re the 14th: I think I read somewhere (probably on here!) it's going to be the biggest hunter's moon in however many hundred years or something? - my diary says it'll be a full moon. I'll just ask Mr Google...

I served with these fine gentlemen over 45 years ago. We were all station in Berlin at the same time and we meet at least once a year. Today we met at the National Memorial Arboretum.
The first picture is of myself and two other guys who were in the same troop in 1969 and have remained comrades ever since.

I read that a few years ago, a very good book, different to most of his other legal based books.

That's about as good as my critique goes, enjoy.

In my opinion a very readable author, I have read around 20 of his books over the years, he does get a bit bogged down in American legaleese at times though.

Having waited 50 years to make it to the bridge of the Starship Enterprise, I discover the true loneliness of command.

Oh alright then, I was at the Star Trek Exhibition in Blackpool on Sunday :)

Not taken today, but a few snaps from our recent jaunt to Austria which I've finally downloaded:

A unique display of historic armour in the Festung Hohensalzburg at Salzburg. Reminded me of the fight with the skeletons scene in Jason and the Argonauts.

For those who prefer to make love not war, a panoramic view of love locks on the Markatsteg footbridge, also in Salzburg:

And finally, especially for the Daily Mail readership - Karl Marx Hof. A gloriously art deco apartment complex built by the pre-war Socialist council in Heligenstadt, a suburb of Vienna:

Those nests are quite a work of art, aren't they? Clever wasps. :)
I like them. Unfortunately most people can't get past the fact that they sting but I leave the nests as long as they're not in dangerous place. I haven't had to shift one for years. That one was only 6 feet from my lawnmower storage so they got me twice - both times when I forgot about them and started to pour fuel into the mower.
