A photo of the day thread

What a difference a day makes... this is the river at Staines without the fog (taken from a friend's boat on the way to a very nice lunch... I mean a meeting of the resident's association chairs...). Nice thing to have on the doorstep, I feel very priveleged to live here. The house on the left is for sale for a cool million and a half if anyone's interested?! One of my faves on this reach, linky - Link Removed

Are you back home already ?

Yes, the weather all the way home was poor and did not encourage any stopovers.

Unloaded what needed unloading, picked up my car, drove to the apartment, stocked fridge, put post in the shredder, walked to the coffee shop, delivered a bag of sticks of rock to the Baristas, caught up on the gossip now back in my apartment with the washing machine vibrating around and thinking about dinner.

As you can see, its dry and sunny in Cardiff. :)

Not so much MH related, but its not every day you get the chance to get a picture like this, and before any "Tree Huggers" decide to pipe up, English Heritage have been involved as it stopped me from working a couple of weeks ago

Amazing little fella .. I am quite fascinated by bats, not sure why.

I am a roofer, and to be quite honest its the 1st time in about 8-9 years since I've uncovered any on a roof. I dont know what type of bat he is, but as soon as I found him he put halt on continuing with any works.
Apparently as from 1st November bats are supposed to start hibernating, so English Heritage has given us a window in which to complete the roof.

To be honest a "professor" is more excited about getting a sample of Lichen Moss, found on some of the slates which has been sent away for analysis ??

The following is a "different" bat found this week once works had re-commenced.

Just proves what can be achieved with a bit of vision!

I'm sure we don't appreciate how much good work like that has been done. We have several areas here reclaimed from industrial sites which are now vital homes for wildlife.

Same here. We used to have them flying round the back gardens when we first moved here. We weren't sure where they came from but suspected the loft of the caretaker's house on the school field behind us. We haven't seen any bats since that house was renovated :( Hopefully they were moved properly.

Martin some of your photographs are good enough to be printed as cards. That is beautiful.
