A photo of the day thread

Is it open to the public yet? Is there a campsite or an overnighter near the harbour ? as hubbie and daughters came to a match there when Wembly was being revamped and said it was a great area.

It opens tomorrow.

With all the things that Cardiff lays on, wide catering for motorhomes is not one of them.

There is a site in Bute Park, near Sophia Gardens, but I've read that it is expensive.

A nice touch is that you can walk from the campsite to the waterbus stop and take a boat ride down the Taff River and the boat docks right by the Beach. From the campsite it is just 10 minutes walk to the city centre.

The boat stops at Mermaid Quay which is next to the beach.

Much food is available at Mermaid Quay.

@The Old Man thanks for all the info the campsite looks very handy and we don't mind paying a bit more if it's near facilities and transport! It's one to look at in the future thanks again.

Opportunities for wild camping in Cardiff are low.

Close to the beach is;

Windsor Esplanade, it has unrestricted parcking but for that reason you have to get there very early or very late to park. It is also a road of expensive homes, you'll get away with one night at a push.

Not so far away is Dunleavy Drive, the road above the Starbucks locator above, at the end you can see the roadabout at the left hand end. Just off the roundabout are about eight unrestricted parking spots, it is rough ground and you could probably get three or four MH onto it. No facilities but benefits from;

The 24 hour Starbucks cafe, for toilets and breakfast.
24 hour Asda store, not on Sunday. Toilets and cafe.
24 McDonalds next to Asda.

You can walk to the beach in about 20 minutes.

A lot of lovely photos on here, but it would be nice to know what country they were taken?

Been on a carousel like that at Honfleur but the carriages didn't have glass! Eek very scary! No elf and safety!!
Love the picture of it neat and tidy and empty and quiet it will be different in a few hours hope it doesn't rain!!

View yesterday next to the aire at La Truchere on the edge of the Saone in a little nature reserve area. Nice spot, marked walks, a small boat hire and a number of restaurants. We would like to stay and explore further but it's raining and looks likely to stay that way all day. Another trip.
